3.
(1)
Many people believe that physical exercise is equally necessary for all age groups.
4.

(1) 1
First, I think older people need more exercise to stay healthy because they are not as physically
strong as young people.
(2)
1:
As people age, their bodies become weaker. Consequently, the elderly often fall and suffer bone
fractures. These injuries can be prevented by exercising regularly.
(3) 2:
Recent research has confirmed this. According to a report from Vanderbilt University, elderly
people who exercised regularly were 75 percent less likely to get injured than those who did not
exercise. In addition, the study found that strength training helped those who had been injured to
heal faster. Moreover, those who continued to exercise were less prone to subsequent falls and
injuries.

Second, older adults especially need to exercise because they tend to engage in physical activity
less often than young people do.
(2) 1:
As one might expect, the intensity and frequency of physical activity often decline in old ages.

Whereas young people live active lives, the pace of life begins to slow down for many people after
retirement.
(3)
2:
Studies conducted by UCLAs Center on Aging have shown that three-fourths of the elderly are
insufficiently active. This means that they are not active enough to receive the health benefits of
exercise. On the contrary, only around 30 percent of young people are insufficiently active. Young
people obviously live more active lifestyles overall. Thus, elderly people need more exercise tomeet the daily physical requirements for good health.
6.
(1)
For these reasons, I would say that exercise is more important for elderly people than for young
people.
7.
