DAY OF F

ILMING

Page 2: Day of filming

On the day of filming, we changed some elements of our video for a variety of reasons. We adapted our shooting schedule and moved the council estate and car shots to a different day in order to avoid rush hour traffic on the way to Scarborough. We stuck to our storyboard in that all the shots we planned to film we stuck to however when we arrived on location we came up with other creative ideas for shots.

For example there was a sequence we filmed on a particular machine and we filmed through the glass in order to create a more creative angle.

We also found whilst shooting on the beach that someone had drawn a sun into the sand. This provided us with many ideas as the title of our chosen song is ‘Don’t look back into the sun’. We used this both in our video and we also thought it would be effective as a disc design.

Another location where the shots were adapted slightly was in the train station. Due to flooding, we were unable to film at Ulleskelf so filmed at South Milford instead. We also had to use the bridge at South Milford as a location for the magazine advert as we could not get to bridges near the river due to extreme flooding in York. We added in a shot of the male actor holding himself up on the lamp post as it mirrors the way the Libertines behave in their videos.

We also used more shots of walking through York before the clubbing scene. This is because we found lots of shots in front of windows that were lit nicely and we were restricted in terms of shots near the river due to the flooding.

Once we arrived at the pool location, there were a variety of props that were made available to us. We decided to take advantage of this and use them in order to film as many different shots as possible. This helped us because we wanted the editing to be fast paced in this section so we needed as many shots as possible

We also used many more Go Pro shots than we expected as we found that they created effective transition shots.
