David Attenborough – Planet Earth
Most of David Attenborough's documentaries are one the natural world. He is shown in front of the camera and then talks over the camera shots, a typical example of a reflexive documentary.
Editing
The documentary is based around trying to show off the beauty of the earth. Therefore when editing the pace of the clips is very slow. This gives a calm relaxed feel for the viewer and adds to the beautiful feel to the documentary. The lighting is often bright and pure colours developing the beauty of the documentary and gives the viewer a sense of relaxation.
Cinematography
The different shots are there to create a sense of beauty, but are also used to help David Attenborough speak about the natural world. Many establishing shots are used to give the viewer the realisation of how beautiful the natural land is and then the use of close up on the animals shows off the beauty of nature.
Sound
The sounds in the documentary are soft and peaceful. These sounds are usually linked with documentaries about beauty as it makes the viewer feel very relaxed and calm while watching. During the establishing shots peaceful songs and sounds are played to emphasise the beauty.
