    Teacher’s Day at Achala Vidyanikethan

To the first time reader’s and for those who have been follow-

    academic year 2017-18.

Before we delve into, the Blog

  • The day started with the arrival of our chief guest for the day, Mrs. Parvathi

Gururaj, our school Headmistress escorted by students from the senior most

class (a special privilege bestowed upon them).

Ma’am, first and foremost a thank you with gratitude for the liberty you have given me and the trust you have in me. You are the special one at our institu-

tion. The institution today is the vision of yours.

Upon arrival and greeting the teaching faculty and students, the chief guest lit

the ceremonial lamp (a regular at our institution).

    speeches presented by

Shreyas of class fifth in Kan-

    nada and Kreethana in Eng-

lish from class ninth (A first

    attempt by both).

    Though reluctant in the be-

ginning the first timer’s did not show any signs of nerv-

    ousness or fear.

This is one way in which the

CBM’s in our students were enhanced.

    The days programme was

    compered by Nithin and

    Nagamani from class eight

    (their first outing), which they

    did with ease.

    A beautiful rendition of pray-

    er song was presented by

    girls from class ninth (their

    first).

    Significance of the day, Dr.

    Radhakrishnan and about

    teachers were covered in

    l Event

The highlight of the day has to the unique show (trust me when I say that) presented by our students to thank their teachers. In gist the show is a fusion of Dance and Drama in a proper concoction on the theme of the day “Thank you Teacher’s”.

A full recording of the show can be found in our official YouTube channel “Achala AVN”, and in our Facebook page “Achala Vidyanikethan”. Readers, please do watch, though with certain minor flaws our students put up a wonderful show.

Here is list, why I call this show a unique one.

Students performed for a total of 11 songs.

Dance style as diverse from Western to classical to kuthu dance.

In all 25 students took part.

They danced, acted, sang and spoke on the theme of the day.

Around 10 students are taking part in a cultural event for the first time.

A lesson in organising for me, as I foresaw their practise and preparation.

Can someone suggest any other better way to boost the confidence in my stu-

dents. ( I am open to suggestions)

    A collage of the show

A brief description of the show.

The show starts with a thank you message to

her beloved teachers presented by Shreemeya.

Various thoughts run’s in one’s mind during class hours pertaining to the subject in session.

The next ten performances highlighted the

same, starting from the class of Mathematics to

the inner joy one experiences once holiday’s are declared in a fusion of dance and drama.

The eleventh performance, a group song by all

    25 students thanking their teacher’s.

I am yet to receive any convincing answer from my students , of all why a cake pops

up every year on this special day. The To place the order for the savour my students

travelled no less than 5 km to a place which fits in their budget, a lesson in money

management, indeed. The cake was cut by our chief guest, accompanied by fellow

teachers. Further special snacks were ordered for the faculty and for the students at

large. The cake cut was preceded by address of the chief guest to the gathering. Her

personal experience, memories of her days as a student, and an appreciation of the

days event sums up her address. Celebrations A rendezvous with the cakes

After a brief hiatus, students from the senior classes had arranged for an series of entertainment for their teachers. ( The brief

hiatus, as teachers had gathered in the office, to show off their brand new shining bangles presented by the management). What

best than a musical chair to kick start, with an add-on in which the faculty members ramp walked to occupy their seats, accompa-

nied by loud cheers. Probably, the first time for few, teachers put up a good show. Arm wrestling!!!! and dog and bone followed

next. The show was picture perfect moment, as one could find a genuine happiness all around the hall.

On demand by teachers, students danced for the second time and as demanded by students, teachers joined them for the dance.

With no exceptions (our head mistress included) all those present in the hall danced to some peppy numbers.

The day ended with vote of thanks and gift’s from my beloved students to their teachers.

Later, teachers and a select few students joined in for lunch, bringing the curtains down for the day.

    Entertainment

Its 4:00 AM, and I am wondering how to conclude,

then something strikes me. Is it really a conclusion

or a start of something new. Its open to interpreta-

tion, though. As a teacher (wondering still how I

became one) events like these, pushes me each

time to come up with something or the other that

either directly or indirectly have a profound effect

on my students. The inner ability in one needs a

persuasion, a jolt to wake up the somber. A teacher

is well placed to bring about this change.

I take this opportunity to not just thank, but also

appreciate my students for the wonderful show that

they put up and I genuinely wish, the effort they put

in pay rich dividends when needed.

Also my special thanks to Thakshith P for assisting

me with the video and Jaynthi M for her choreogra-

phy (both are my students who are not part of this

    this institution).

Wondering what next, see as I said a new beginning.
