Inspired by the command of Lord Shree Swaminarayan to "propagate
the true knowledge" planted the seeds of the first Swaminarayan
Gurukul at Rajkot was planned by His Holiness Pujya Shastriji Maharaj
Shree Dharmajivandasji Swami in 1948. Heartened by the success of
re-living the ancient system, Shree Devakrishnadasji swami and Shastri
shree Madhavapriyadasji swami with the blessings of H. H. Shree Jogi
Swami, expanded the horizons by establishing Darshanam Sanskrit
Mahavidyalaya. H. H. Shastriji Maharaj's planted seeds are growing
into a glorious tree named Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya where studies,
sports and spirituality are combined.

* GSEB (Gujarat State Education Board) also recognizes SSC and HSC courses of the Mahavidyalaya.
* The nationally reputed ASR (Academy of Sanskrit Research), Melkote, has entered into a memorandum of Understanding, (MOU) recognizing the excellent research and academic work of Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya.

STUDIES
Man has been striving hard to find out the secrets of nature from the time immemorial to the present
computer age. He has taken a great leap and explored the hidden truths of nature. We impart value-
based education and also inculcate the contemporary knowledge with a symbiosis of Vedic culture
and western developments.
The sprawling lush green campus of Gurukul is a sacred place where tradition and modern trend move
hand in hand. The highly qualified educators share knowledge as well as maintain spiritual balance.
This can be summarised as follows:
Traditional subjects taught are Nyaya, Sahitya, Vedanta, Vyakarana, Jyotish etc.
Modern computer certification courses which include advance diploma along with JAVA
programming.
Vedic literature including Sama Veda, Krishna and Shukla Yajur Veda are taught. We also plan
to teach Rig Veda and Atharva Veda in the near future.
SPORTS
Sports play a significant role in the physical well-being of the students.
Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya has an outstanding sports
programme. It offers the western as well as Indian sports on the sprawling
grounds. The activities, both indoor and outdoor, provide excellent
opportunities to our children. The high number of award winning students
in inter-school and inter-state competition is a living proof of our
resounding success.
Spirituality is the hub of Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya. The learned
saints of Gurukul participate in spiritual discourses and value-based classes. H. H.
Sadguru Shastriji Maharaj envisioned that a Mahavidyalaya propagate true
knowledge across the world. To realize this vision, Sadguru Mahant Shree
Devkrishnadasji Swami, Sadguru Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami and
Sadguru Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami established DSM. It has a well-
equipped library in a spacious, bright hall that is conducive to student learning.
Many Yajnas (Spiritual Offerings) are conducted on a regular basis. Students
take part in various spiritual camps, celebrate national and religious festivals and by
themselves organize various functions. Such tasks strengthen their spiritual
consciousness and make them better citizens of tomorrow.
