The fashion extravaganza – a part of the 2010 IIFA Awards – fea- tured some of out top models, along with models from India. During the selection process, the local models were asked to do their thing for free. None agreed, and the organizers finally decided to make payment. “We were told that this was an international event and that we would gain international recogni- tion. But we insisted on being paid and the organizers did say ‘yes’ to our proposal,” said one of the mod- els who was a part of the IIFA scene. “The Indian models were being given five-star treatment, and paid lavishly, as well, but we were treat- ed differently,” she added. “And when it was all over, we kept calling up the local organizers. Y ala National Park was the destination of choice for the ‘Explorations’ series in the Land Rover and Cinnamon Nature Trails part- nership. Seven Land Rover vehicles, carrying their own- ers, set off from Colombo to the wilderness of Yala. The goal was to track and find the reclusive sloth bear during the three-day adventure. Cinnamon Wild Resort was home to the Land Rover owners during this period of time with a very luxu- rious agenda, mixed in with the wild. The explorations series had a unique itinerary, spe- cially planned by the Land Rover and Cinnamon Nature Trails team, for the owners. They started with a pho- tography workshop, taught by renowned wildlife natural- ist, Chitral Jayatilake, with an array of high-end DSLR cam- eras provided by Canon Sri Lanka. The excursions into Yala consisted of six game drives, including a Night Safari where night vision goggles brought to light the amazing sights of the dark jungle. During these game drives, the Land Rover owners managed to garner fourteen leopard sightings, two sloth bear sightings and stunning images of Yala’s natural beauty. The trip to Yala National Park was truly an adventure for the Land Rover owners filled with unexpected surprises. The many vivid sightings, within the three-day series, were unforget- table and the participants were thrilled to have experienced such rare and breathtaking moments. On the final evening, cocktails followed by the scrumptious bush dinner organized by Cinnamon Wild Yala, con- cluded the event and garnered unforgettable memories. The next excursion, in the Exploration series, will see Land Rover owners head to Trincomalee from the 25th – 27th of July, 2014, in ‘Corals and Reefs’, a chance to explore the natural beau- ty of the underwa- ter world. Young Land Rover enthusiasts will be given an insight into the conservation of corals and marine life whilst experiencing ‘Snuba’ for the first time. Land Rover owners will stay at Chaaya Blue during the ‘Exploration’ basking in the lux- ury of the partnership between Cinnamon Nature Trails and Land Rover.
