From the Principal’s Desk
ASSEMBLY TA 7 What a wonderful assembly this morning presented by the students from TA 7 under the direction of Mrs Orchard and Mrs Berry. The children promoted the reading of books through singing and dancing and spoke with great confidence and aplomb. The theme of the assembly was perfect for book week and a fitting celebration of this event. Congratulations TA 7. BOOK FAIR The annual book fair at Dalmain has become an anticipated event, fully supported by the community. Mrs Melville worked tirelessly over the last few days to ensure the book fair was a success and she can be rightly proud of the outcome. This year book and stationery sales amounted to $6903.00, surpassing last year’s outstanding result. Thank you to the Dalmain community for their support and for the parents and staff who assisted Mrs Melville with sales. MATT & KIM TO THE RESCUE - 8 JUNE As many of you are aware, Matt and Kim recently renovated the Hoy Poy family’s home. Channel 9 Perth have asked that we make you aware the show will be aired on 8 June at 7:30pm. They also commented on the wonderful people in our community who came out to lend a helping hand. I am sure that every household in Kingsley will be glued to Channel 9 next Wednesday. P&C MEETING - TUESDAY 7 June Please come and join us at the P&C meeting on Tuesday 7 June at 7:00pm. We love to see new faces! All welcome. INTER SCHOOL SPORT Congratulations to the football, soccer and netball teams who all had resounding victories
last Friday in their games against Goollelal. Well done! We next meet on Friday 10 June
against Hawker Park at Hawker Park Primary School.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY - 3 JUNE Tomorrow is a school development day for the staff of Dalmain. In the morning, they will meet with the staff of Goollelal and share their planning and assessment in Geography and History in phase-of-learning groups. This should be a mutually beneficial exercise. In the afternoon Ms King and Ms Wilson will be running a workshop to enable teachers to give their students the skills to keep them cyber safe. With social media becoming more and more predominant - this is an essential life skill. Enjoy your very long weekend!

Scholastic ‘Monster Book Fair’ 2016 I would sincerely like to thank all students and their families for supporting the ‘Book Fair’ that was held this week. We sold $6903.00 worth of books and stationery, which resulted in a commission of $2416.05 that will be spent on books for the library and Dalmain Docket prizes. This amount has truly exceeded my expectations yet again. I really cannot thank you all enough for your continuing support of the library. I would like to sincerely thank my very enthusiastic student helpers Callum Nunn, Tlia Madeley, Julian Tearney, Lily Williams, Dylan Blaxill and Marnie Cloete for their help in running the Book Fair. They were extremely efficient and a fantastic help. I also would like to sincerely thank Jane McIntyre for her help in the setting up of the Book Fair and Kirsty Larham, Claire Daniels, Jane McIntyre, Erin Lendich, Mrs Archibald, Mrs Suddell, Mrs James, Mrs Te Wheoro and Mrs Buswell for their help over the course of the Book Fair. Thank you also to the following families for their kind donation of a book from the Library ‘Wish List’ table – the Blaxill family, McCain family, McIntyre family, Wilkin family and the Larham family. I did have two more books donated to the library but unfortunately, the family names were not recorded for me. If you donated a book please call in and see me next Tuesday or else let the front office know. Thank you. Books that were ordered will be delivered to the students as soon as I receive them from Scholastic. Congratulations to Hudson O’Connell (PP 1) who was the winner of ‘Guess how many Monster Teeth are in the container’ competition (417), Bailey Alp (TA 9) who was the winner of ‘Guess how many pieces of Monster Food are in the jar’ (148) and Dylan Paap (PP 2) who won the $50.00 raffle. The following children were the winners of our Colouring–in-Competition and received a voucher to the value of $5.00 to spend at the Book Fair - congratulations and well done to everyone. Once again, thank you so very much.

Thank you Nature Play Busy Bees! Sunday 22 & 29 May 2016
A HUGE thank you to everyone who turned up to the last two busy bees and worked their hearts out. These busy bees were conducted in fabulous spirit, with plenty of smiles and laughs thrown in. In the second busy bee we installed upright logs for stump cubbies, stilts and also the steppers that help create the pathways that join the spaces. We also installed the cubby arbor dome and put stepper seats inside. We had to concrete in 26 upright poles, which were 3m in height. People worked hard digging the many holes up to 1m deep. In the third busy bee we got all the mulch in, road gravel down (and compacted) and wood sanded, which was a superhuman effort. Thanks also to those who kept the troops fed and looked after. The Kidsafe WA inspector visited Monday afternoon and gave us the green light from a safety perspective. Once we receive their report the children will be able to play in the space – hopefully next week! Thanks to everyone who was involved with the planning/preparation beforehand and in the last three busy bees. We have progressed beautifully due to everyone’s hard work and achieved so much. They say it takes a village, well we should be super proud of the village of people that have turned up and helped out. Information and more photos are available on the blog: https://dalmainnatureplay.wordpress.com/ We are now getting ready to start planting and are planning phase 2 – tree house and phase 3 water play area. Cheers,
Amanda Wood
