M CENTRAL Pyrmont, NSW 2003-2005

The re-design of this massive her itage wool store into a 158-lof t apar tment metropolis delivered alternative housing choice including lof ts , terraces , screened penthouses and roof top cour tyard housing. The roof was conceived as an elevated Australian low water ing parkland of grasslands , succulents and t imber boardwalks , providing bio-l i fe and mit igating the city ’s heat-sink ef fect . The architectures public domain of exploding orange ply wood l ined, concrete columned corr idors and galler ies are dramatic . Heritage restoration is combined with modern architecture and inter iors.

SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE BENNELONG RESTAURANT

Sydney, NSW 2001

The use of light was critical to the redesign of Bennelong. New up-lighting dramatised the Opera House's ribbed roof enclosure while the restaurants dining and seated spaces were made more intimate and seductive through the incorporation of designed lamps. Set-like objects; aboriginal painted lamps and memorial poles, over scaled vases, flower arrangements and new seating were designed for the space. The aboriginal works reclaim the ground on which the restaurant and Opera House sit.

M&C SAATCHI ADVERTISING AGENCYSydney, NSW 2009

Designed for an organisation of 350 people over 3000m2 and four floors M&C SAATCHI's new offices were space planned as an open networked system with communal spaces. Housed in a wonderful restored heritage building, great care was taken to integrate the design into the 'classic nature' of the great hall, while the café space was designed more fluidly and interactively as a place of work and play.

THE ‘ARTWALL’Kings Cross, NSW 2000-2003

The 'Art Wall' employs carefully detailed screening to mediate the harsh Australian light while reducing heat-load. The facade screen pattern was used in the interior graphically. The interior spaces were left raw and bare to avoid costs and solve access problems to services. It is a low maintenance environment with low VOC's and few painted finishes. It is an early 'green' Sydney building.

M CENTRAL 1 + M CENTRAL 2 A METROPOLIS OF LOFT APARTMENTS & PARK

Pyrmont, NSW 2003-2005

An exciting loft metropolis was designed within and on top of two massive heritage woolstores. 158 loft apartments were designed in six types and were finished in timbers and contained decorative screened elements. Common spaces were dramatised with bold dark and vibrant colours and the architect planned a massive green roof 'park'. Bold tiled bathrooms and natural timbers were used to finish the loft apartments.

SYDNEY HARBOUR HOUSE NO.1Mosman, NSW 2005-2009

This Sydney harbour property interior uses a limestone floor and semi-gloss painted volumes as a base for the more exotic finishes, furniture and decorative items. Designed as a series of living gallery spaces, four floors are threaded together with a magnificent open timber stair. Each level has an interior theme; starting with the conical entry gallery, to the white curved bedroom spaces, leading to the MOMA like living/kitchen and finally the moody bar/cellar playroom below.

GREGORIOU RESIDENCEPotts Point, NSW 2005

The original Art Deco apartment interior became a canvas for the clients extensive Aboriginal art collection. The fresh pure aesthetic also reflects the clients wish to create a sanctuary for herself that is light and calm. The apartment also takes on the feel of a beautifully decorated yet restrained 'boudoir'.

THE WATER HOUSEElizabeth Bay, Sydney NSW Australia 1995-2001

This traditional terrace was completely gutted and a new steel-framed interior sequence of spaces was inserted. The ground plane is opened through, and a huge vertical void allows light to flood into the heart of the terrace, while lighting the fully glazed internal bathrooms. The stairs are generous and float up through the central void. A sunken black 'grotto' pool was wrapped in a fluidly designed sculptural veil.

INDIAN OCEAN ECO RETREATMargaret River, WA 1998-2000

This eco retreat overlooks the Indian Ocean, sitting with its back along the sand dunes. Stepping down through the solid cave-like entry, the quiet sleeping quarters are composed of white gallery walls and polished concrete floors, with long slot-windows that frame specific vistas. The central kitchen with its cantilevered concrete bench commands a wide view out towards the horizon, while the bamboo flooring in the main lounge area creates a comfortable space with its softness underfoot.

POL OXYGEN MAGAZINE TRADE EXHIBITION

DesignEx 06, Darling Harbour, NSW 2006

We designed an art installation instead of typical trade exhibition. Pol Oxygen's design magazine is both intellectual and artistic, and was represented by the names of the magazines authors and subjects in the form of pickled brain specimens. The clinical rows of jarred brains ensured a shock factor and attracted much attention at what are usually rather visually dull events, which helped Pol Oxygen's sales of magazines and subscriptions at the event.
