WHO WE ARE? WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON?
Demetra Association is a non government organization registered in 1997 in Bourgas
Our Main Aims:
Achieving gender equality as a fundamental and integral part of economic, social and democratic development ; Achieving economic equality between men and women - elimination of disparities in pay between the sexes; Developing policies for social protection against poverty; Fighting the multiple discrimination Improving the quality of care services for all age groups, the balance between men and women in childcare and other dependent family members Enhancing equal participation of women and men in decision-making - encouraging the participation of women in politics, in business, science and technology; Elimination of gender-based violence - domestic violence, women trafficking, sexual violence in the workplace - eliminating gender stereotypes in society in education, culture, labor market, media; Uniting its members around the idea of protecting the rights of women, to mediate between institutions and to coordinate their efforts on the problem of violence against women and children Awareness of society, institutions and professionals on the problem of violence and discrimination Assistance to women victims of violence and their children.
Development and improvement of social strategies and practices Supporting the formulation and implementation of public policies in social, health, education, culture, ecology and sport based on identified priorities and needs; Work for social inclusion of young people, adults and disadvantaged families; Identification, protection and advocacy for developing and implementing policies for young people; Improving the quality of vocational education and training for different groups of professionals ; Support the integration of minorities in Bulgarian society
WHAT WE DO TO ACHIEVE OUR MAIN AIMS:

Youth program Program for disadvantaged people and groups
Program for mediation and advocacy to the institutions.
Program- “Support and assistance to victims of domestic violence, discrimination, victims of sexual
violence and victims of trafficking”. Program- “Legal clinics for victims of domestic
violence”. Program- Providing shelter for victims of violence.
Program for working with offenders Training of trainers and professionals .

In the administrative office of the Demetra Association are working consultants, technical manager, office assistant and accountant
The association has a permanent team of volunteers and student interns
The Association has mobile team of young people who run campaigns and trainings
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE THE MOBILE TEAM
CRISIS CENTER In 2008, under the PHARE project Demeter Association
managed to run a crisis center for women and children victims of violence.
The center has a capacity - 8.
CENTER FOR PREVENTION AGAINST VIOLENCE AND CRIME
Center for Prevention has been opened in July 2009.
Center for Prevention Against Violence and Crime The project was implemented under the agreement between Burgas
municipality, Regional Directorate of Interior - Burgas and Demeter Association
The building is provided by the Burgas Municipality. Repairs and furnishings are the work of Police Department - Burgas with the active support of local business and Demetra Association provides services
In the building every day available to the citizens is a social worker, lawyer, psychologist, a representative of municipal, police officer and youth worker

PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AND DISCRIMINATION AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE Demetra Association run a special Youth Programme which deals
with youth issues
In 2009, the Youth Team of the Demetra Association under the Program of the Center for Prevention conducted a study on aggression and violence in all secondary schools in Bourgas
With the active participation of volunteers, students from BFU -social work, were covered and studied 5020 students from secondary schools in Bourgas.
The survey results served as basis for development of methodology and activities to prevent violence in Burgas schools.
A young team of trainers monthly visits schools in the city of Burgas and conduct presentations and trainings for prevention of violence, discrimination, education in human rights ,y outh initiatives
