Pa s s a g e M a n a g e m en t Passage Management is collecting information and identifying resources required for your sailing adventure such as Sydney to The Whitsundays, planning a specific passage such as from Bundaberg to Lady Musgrave, sailing the specific passage and reviewing the sailed passage prior to the next passage, Lady Musgrave to Pancake Creek. Passage Management is best described as having 4 distinct phases:
1. P r epa rat i on , collecting information and documents for your selected sailing area, Pilots, Charts, Tide Tables, weather trends, regulatory requirements
2. P l ann ing , the detailed plan for a specific passage, destination, alternate destination, distance/time, weather forecast, tides, expected observations, resources, VMR contacts, Etc.
3. Sa i l i ng , a safe and enjoyable passage to your plan, arriving safely, communicating with others and recording your passage
4. Rev i ew , what worked, what can be improved, setting up for the next passage.
P r e p a r a t i o n
Pilots, Charts and Tide Tables, passage distances, are listed below, other information such as Regulatory, Safety, Seamanship, Marina maps, Lights and VHF Repeater stations and what to do if an incident or medical situation should occur, are in other sections of this Passage Planner.
