Our mission is to enhance readiness and well being of the workforce and their families by pro- viding predictable, affordable and quality programs and services for children and youth 6 weeks to 18 years of age. Our goal is to help each child/youth develop to his or her potential. We strive to provide a safe environment, enriching experiences, and loving care for your children during their time in our pro- grams. Programs are open to all active duty military members, DoD civilian employees, DoD contractors, Reservists, National Guard and children of Wounded Warriors and Fallen Soldiers. Whatever program you choose to enroll your child in, we pledge to do our best to make it a positive experience for all. Your experience can be enhanced through a strong parent and program partnership. Your questions, com- ments and suggestions are always welcome and we encourage you to participate in the many opportuni- ties offered for parent involvement. This brochure is designed to give you a brief look at the variety of services we offer to meet your child care and youth recreational needs. Outreach Services (OS) Babysitter Training and Referral The CYS Services babysitting training is open to youth 13-18 years old. The curriculum is designed to help youth learn what it takes to be a responsible, caring, trustworthy, competent, capable and safe babysitter. Infant and child CPR and First Aid is included in the course and is at no cost to Families. Deployment Support CYS Services will support unit requirement for child care during training exercises and alerts to the extent possible. The OS director will assess installation and private section resources and advise unit commanders of childcare option appropriate to specific requirements. Child Care support for mobilization, pre-deployment, and deployment will be available at no charge to the deploying unit. Volunteer Child Care in a Unit Setting or Parent’s on Site A no-cost child care option that allows volunteers trained by CYS Services staff to provide child care in an approved facility while parents are attending a group function in the same building. All the volunteers require a 4-hour orien- tation before providing care. CYS Services registration is NOT required to use this service Kids on Site This is on-site care designed to support training and meetings that parents are attending on the installation when regular CYS Services facilities are not available. Cost varies based on number of children, staff and number of hours. Staff, equipment and material provided for CYS Services KOS may be provided. CYS Services registration is required. imAlone workshops The imAlone Program offers tools for Youth & Parents to determine together when youth are ready to stay “home alone”. A series of fun Workshops featuring hands-on learning sessions on personal safety, character and respon- sibility, nutritious snacks, setting boundaries & responding to emergencies will be offered along with Family Assign- ments for youth & parents to complete together. Parenting Advisory Council (PAC) Join us in helping to improve our program. PAC meetings provide parents an avenue to make suggestions and build a partnership with CYS Services programs.PAC meetings are scheduled on a quarterly basis and open to all parents. TheSchoolLiaisonOfficer(SLO)worksin conjunction with CYS Services, the local school community and the military units on post to address educational issues involving mili-tarychildren.TheSLOcanalsomaketransitioningwithschool-age children easier by providing you timely and relevant information about the installation and the local schools. When you are preparing for your PCS, your local SLO will be able to put you into contact with the SLO at your gaining installation so you can plan ahead and be prepared to help your school-age child makeasmoothtransition.

We strive to provide excellence in outreach programming, health and fitness, individual, and team sports for children and youth 3 to 18 years

old. We offer developmental programming inthecoreareasofbasketball,T-ball

and soccer along with a variety of outreach programs, summer camps, clinics and individual and team sports such as wrestling, football and cheerleading. Our goal is to offer our Military youth the same opportunities available to their counterpartsintheUnitedStates.Avalid CYS Services sports physical is

Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills(S.K.I.E.S.)programsaredesignedtogivechildrenandyouth 18 months to 18 years of age instructional program-mingintheareasofart,education,lifeskills,andsports&fitness. S.K.I.E.S. classes are offered year round by qualified instructors to provide the best possible service to our patrons.

CYS Services and FCC programs have an open door policy and welcome visits by parents at any time duringoperatinghours.Asateam,wewillworktogether to provide the safest environment for the children in our care. Therefore, all CYS Services personnel (employees, contractors, FCC providers, volunteers, Family and MWR partners and interns) areknowledgeableandconsidered“mandatedreporters” who are required by law to report suspi-cions of child abuse or neglect. If they notice suspi-cious bruises, cuts or burns on a child, they must: 1. Report it to the installation reporting Point of Contact (RPOC). The installation RPOC is the Military police/ Provost Marshal Division (P/PMD), 2. Notify the appropri- ate CYS Services program director after notification to RPOC. DoDChildAbuseandSafetyHotlinePostersareplacedinprominent locations in all CYS facilities and FCC homes should parents need to report incidents of suspected abuse beyond the installation level.

TheHIRED!ApprenticeshipProgramisdesignedtomeetthe workforce-preparationandsecondary-educationexplorationneeds of eligible 15-18 year-old youth. Those accepted into theprogramareplacedin12-weekapprenticeshippositionsat MWR facilities in the garrison. These positions serve as exploratoryworkexperiencesundertheguidanceofadedi-cated on-site mentor–hence the use of the name “appren-ticeship.”HIRED!termsarepurposelyalignedwithspecificcareer paths designed to pave the way into college or higher education.Apprenticeshipsprovideexploratoryworkexperi-ences and help participants determine ifcertain career paths are viable choices for their future.

Family Child Care (FCC)CIV 09802.83.2536, DSN 467.2536Certifiedfamilymemberswhohavemetalloftheback-groundcheckandtrainingrequirementsareeligibletoachieve FCC certification. FCC offers home-based, full-day,part-dayandhourlycareforchildrenagessixweeksthrough 12 years and provides rich and stimulating envi-ronments in which children develop motor, cognitive, so-cialandemotionalskillsthroughabalanceofexplorationand planned curriculum. Learning activities are designed to support the natural development of children and in-clude individual, small group and large group experiences. FCC homes can accommodate up to six children under age 12, including the provider’s own children under 8 years old, and only two children may be under the age of two.
