AAZV Website Forum Use and Instructions

To get the most out of the AAZV website Forums, you must be an AAZV Member, and you must Login with your Username and Password.

So, from the start:Open the AAZV website by entering http://www.aazv.org in your web browser.

Login with your Username and Password in the appropriate input spaces on the right side of the Login Page. If you have forgotten your Password, click on the link ‘Forgot your password?,’ and you will be walked through how to retrieve/reset your password.

Once you have logged in, go to the MEMBERS drop-down menu, and click FORUMS

You are now on the Forums ‘home’ page, which has a list of the current forum main categories from which you may choose to read ongoing threads (conversations), post questions, and reply or comment to questions or posts.

For example: if you have a question or comment relating to anesthesia, or just want to see what has been already posted, you would click on the Anesthesiology forum link. This will take you to a page that has a list of the questions/topics that have been posted to this specific category.

If there is a topic that is of interest to you, click on the link. Let’s click on Gibbon Sedation.

You will go to the page that has the thread relating to this topic. After reading the question/comments, you decide you would like to respond/comment on the topic. There are two ways to do this. You can either scroll to the bottom of the page and enter a Quick Reply…

Or you can click on Reply in the grey menu line just under the topic’s title.

If you want a full word processing type of response area, the Reply in the grey menu bar is the place you want to be. Once you have finished your entry, either click Submit Quick Reply, or Submit Post, depending which reply area you decided to use.

Now, let’s say that you have a new question to post in the Anesthesiology category. Navigate back to the Anesthesia category’s page. On the grey menu line, you will find a link, New Topic.

Click New Topic, fill in the appropriate information (including images), and click Submit Post when finished. If you are Subscribed (see next paragraph) to the Anesthesiology topic, you will receive an email when someone responds to your post.

If you will want to see future Anesthesiology posts, you may Subscribe to the topic to receive email notifications of these future comments. To subscribe, got to the Thread Actions drop down menu in the grey menu line next to the Reply link. Click on the Thread Actions drop down, and select the first option, Subscribe to Instant Updates.

You will now get email notifications any time someone posts to this topic. You will find this Forum Actions drop down on any topic or thread. In this way you may subscribe to an entire topic, or just a certain thread under that topic.

Now, let’s say that you have Subscribed to a number of different topics, and you want to manage those Subscriptions. Navigate back to the Forums ‘home’ page. In the grey menu line under the title Forums, you will find the link ‘My Subscriptions and Settings.’

If you click on this link, it will bring you to a page that has a list of your current Forum or Forum Topic Subscriptions.

If you decide that you no longer want to Subscribe to a Forum or Forum Topic, click ‘Unsubscribe from Instant Updates’ in the Options column. Also on the ‘My Subscriptions and Settings’ page, there is a box in which you may type the signature as you wish it to appear in all of your posts to the Forum.

That should get you started with the basics of the use of the AAZV Website Forums. If you have any questions or comments regarding the Forum’s use, or if you would like to see other topics added to the Main list of Forums, please contact Tom Curro ([email protected]).
