WVState Licensure –CF/PPE

The WV Code and Legislative Rules refer to the Clinical Fellowship (CF) as a Postgraduate Professional Experience or PPE.

Licensure Requirements –- Application for Provisional License, signed & notarized- Praxis Score, received directly from ETS- Official transcript from the university- Fee of $150 ($100 application fee + $50 license fee)- PPE Agreement Form

Provisional license is valid for one (1) year and can be renewed one time.

Completion of 10 hours of Continuing Education are required DURING the PPE/CF year.

Permanent Professional Student Support Certificate (valid for life)

Hold or be eligible for the five-year Professional Certificate; and

Complete five years of educational experience including two within the specialization for which the permanent certificate is requested; or

Recommendation of Superintendent.

Continuing Education Requirement

Renewal of the Professional Student Support Certificate requires six semester hours (at least 3.0 GPA) every five years, or granting of a master's degree plus 30 salary classification (30 semester hours of approved graduate classes), and recommendation of the superintendent. Persons age 60 and over are not required to complete additional renewal credit.

Continuing Education

§29-1-13.2. A professional licensee shall obtain a minimum of 20 clock hours of continuing education during every two-year licensure period.

§29-1-13.2.a. Effective for licenses expiring December 31, 2014 and thereafter, 1 clock hour per year (total of 2 clock hours) of approved ethics continuing education are required for license renewal.

WV is one of very few states that DOES NOT audit the verification of continuing education. Proof of continuing education must be submitted by either email, fax or mail for license renewal.

Continuing education requirement is pro-rated every six months of the two year licensing period for new licensees.

Keep copies of all records including fax cover sheets, emails and any correspondence with

your state licensure board, ASHA and anything related to your licensure.

Never throw away your praxis exam score report ASHA does not keep this

Keep records of your CF- once you obtain your CCC ASHA does not keep these records

Always personally verify with ASHA that your supervisor is certified and in good standing and get that in writing.
