Invited to take up the above Construction Director post in Jan 2007 (responsible for over 200
staff supervising a variety of projects, including 60 storey towers, marine works, sewage
treatment plants, road works and infrastructure works)
Duties & Responsibilities:
• To provide advice and expertise to managers and staff on all civil engineering aspects of site operations and to develop and maintain the required technical support systems.
• Direct and manage all Abu Dhabi site staff to maintain motivation with a view to increasing staff retention levels;
• As Head of Construction I carried out Project Director duties for the construction of the afore-mentioned sewage treatment plant at Dubai Sports City and retained Project Management responsibility for the design and construction of temporary infrastructure works for Reem Island and for the marine works at Ruwais Oil Refinery (which required security clearance).
• I was also directly involved in producing a Standard Construction Manual to be used on all Hyder Consulting construction sites throughout the Middle East to ensure compliance with all quality standards.
