The addition of undesirable substances into the environment is called
pollution.
The harmful substances which enter our environment and cause pollution are
called pollutants.
The different types of pollution are:

3. Water pollution
4. Noise pollution
1. Air pollution:
Causes of air pollution:
Cutting down trees over a large area is called deforestation.
Deforestation and increase in the level of carbon dioxide in the air leads
to global warming.
Effects of air pollution:
Planting trees on an area of land in order to form a forest is called
afforestation.
2. Land Pollution:
Waste which can be decomposed by micro
biodegradable waste.

** CONTENT OF THE ABOVE LESSON:
• PAINTINGS: Early humans painted on walls of
caves they lived in.
• The Ajanta Cave Paintings in Maharashtra show
scenes from the life of Lord Buddha.
• The Mughal emperors were also great patrons
of art and invited painters to their court from
Persia. Miniature paintings became popular
during this period.
• Rajput paintings depict battle scenes, life of
kings and people and also depict scenes from
the life of Sri Krishna.
• OUR FESTIVALS: People belonging to different
religions celebrate their joy and happiness by
celebrating various festivals.
• These are of threetypes-
a) National Festivals: They are celebrated with
the feeling of patriotism all over the country.
( Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi
Jayanti)
b) Religious Festivals: They show the religious
association of people with the festivals.
Diwali, Dussehra,Gurupurab, Eid, Christmas,
Buddha Purnima,Mahavir Jayanti etc. are
some religious festivals.
• Harvest Festivals: Harvest Festivals are
celebrated at the beginning of a particular
season or at the time of harvesting of crops.
Some of them are- Baisakhi in Punjab, Bihu in
Assam, Pongal in Tamil Nadu and Onam in
Kerala.
• Some festivals are celebrated in particular
seasons,such as Basant Panchami and Holi are
celebrated in spring seasons. In India , all
festivals are celebrated with special meals,
sweets, prayers, new clothes, exchanging gifts
and greetings.

2.Piracy:It refers to illegally sharing copyrighted materials.This
includes music,movies,TV shows and software.
3.Cyber bullying: It is bullying that occurs online,through text
messaging,email or social networks.
4. Cyber –stalking: It is any kind of harassment or threatening
behavior that occurs online, through text messaging,email,or social
networks.
5. Malware: It is a software that is designed to damage your
computer or steal your personal information. It includes viruses,
spyware and other types of software.

LOGO is a programming language used to draw figures and
perform simple arithmetic calculations.
LOGO has been used in telecommunications,multimedia and
robotics.
LOGO commands are also called as Primitives.
Pen commands of LOGO:PU,PD,PE,PX
PU (PEN UP): By using this command it causes the turtle to pick
up its pen so that when it moves no line is drawn.
PD (PEN DOWN):By using this command ,turtle puts the pen
back down so that the drawing starts again.
PE (PEN ERASE): To erase a line ,type the command PE and
move the turtle forward or backward to the required steps.
PX (PEN REVERSE) :
PX command is used after PE command.It makes the turtle start
drawing again.
PR (PRINT ): This command is used to display a text,number
or message on the screen.The output will be displayed in the
commander window.
REPEAT COMMAND:
The PEPEAT command lets the turtle to repeat the instructions
many times.

PowerPoint uses slides to build a presentation.
Slide: It is an electronic page of a presentation.Slides can have
titles,text,graphs,shapes,clip art,etc.
How to start MS-PowerPoint:
Click on Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > MS-PowerPoint
A file made in MS-PowerPoint is called a Presentation and has
an extension .ppt .
INSERT A NEW SLIDE:
1. From the Home tab click on the New Slide icon .
Or Press Ctrl+M
2. A new slide will be added to your presentation.
VIEWING A SLIDE SHOW:
Once you have created a presentation you can view how the
actual presentation looks.
1.From the Home Tab ,click on Slide Show.
2.Select From Beginning
Or press F5
DIFFERENT VIEWS OF POWERPOINT
Normal view is selected by default and shows the slide
and outline tabs,along with displaying the current slide.
Slide Sorter view displays smaller versions of all the
slides in the presentation.
Reading View displays only the slides with buttons at
the buttom of the screen for navigation.
Slide Show will play your slides as an actual
presentation.
