cooling of fever in critically ill patients. 1/94 - 1997: Clinical and co-academic advisor for graduate field Studies which include: 1. Recall perceptions of patients receiving neuromuscular blockade with varying amounts of sedation. 2. Identifying variables that impact critical care nurses decision making practices for turning or not turning the critically ill patient. 3. A comparison of two pressure relieving devices on the prevention and of heel pressure ulcers. 2/88 - 9/88: Research Study/Phase Two: "Effects of Suspended Prone Positioning on Pa02 and A-a Gradients in the Adult Patient with Acute Respiratory Failure." The research was an experimental study utilizing a population of critically-ill adult patients with acute respiratory failure. It examined the changes in Pa02 levels and A-a gradients when comparing the supine and suspended prone positions. The patient served as his own control. 9/87 - 12/87: Product Evaluation Study/Phase One: The study was conducted to evaluate the safety, comfort, and effectiveness of a newly developed product: a prone positioner. Undergraduate nursing students whom met selection criteria and consented to participate were turned prone utilizing the positioner. After two hours in the prone position, the subjects were removed from the positioner and completed a questionnaire. 9/85: Participated in a multi-center research study which examined the use and effect of mega-dose steroids in patients who were diagnosed septic. I performed data collection procedures as well as supervising others who collected data.
