The Living Ginger; The Characters of Jack B Yeats ExhibitionThe Model, The MallThis exhibition looks at the characters that populated Jack B Yeats’ early work in watercolours. Throughout his career Yeats had a fascination with those who lived on the margins of society - people who, in his own words, had “something of the living ginger of life in them.” Over a career spanning seven decades, he repeatedly painted the vagabonds, clowns, street performers, pirates, sailors and gypsies that populated his youth in Sligo. It is from these early works that the roots of his later mystical and allegorical works in oil began to grow.T: 071 91414 05 www.themodel.ie 6-10pm
