Brackets and Photos of the 35thBCAPL National Championships

The 35th BCAPL National Championships wrapped up this past May 21st. This year the BCAPL Nationals featured 30 divisions including 9-Ball singles and team divisions. An extensive photo gallery has been uploaded on the BCAPL website (www.playbca.com) that were taken by the official BCAPL National Champion-ship photographer Fred Stoll of Filmless Art. Additionally, photos from the CSI produced US Open 10-Ball Champion-ship and the US Open One Pocket Championship taken by Dale Shank of www.shankshotmedia.com can be viewed on the CSI web site at www.playcsipool.com. If you haven’t had a chance to view the brackets or the CueSports Tour-nament System (CTS), go to www.ctsondemand.com. CSI has increasingly used the CTS the past two years for all major CSI and BCAPL events and in 2011 as the site for online registration.

BCAPL Rules Now Available on Kindle and Nook Earlier this year CueSports International (CSI) launched the Spanish language version of the BCAPL rules and now you can download both the Official Rules of the BCA Pool League (English version) and the Re-glas Officiales de la BCA Liga Pool (Spanish version) on your Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble Nook. Kindle users can purchase both language versions online at www.amazon.com via the Kindle Store. Nook users can purchase both versions at www.bn.com. The price is $3.00. When the first edition of the BCAPL rule book was published in 2007, well regarded cue sport historian and journalist Mike Shamos reviewed the book in the July 2008 issue of Billiards Digest. He said, “...I have the feeling that because of their logic the BCAPL rules just may become the dominant rules of the game.” The Kindle and Nook launch of the Official Rules of the BCA Pool League is another step by the team at CSI to increase the use of technology in the pool community. In addition to this recent launch, CSI also cre-ated and launched the most progressive online tournament tracking and registration system in the sport, the CueSports Tournament System (CTS). For more information about CTS visit, www.ctsondemand.com.

USAPL Updates Heading into the 2011-2012 league year, the USA Pool League (USAPL) started to explode across the country this summer. The second league system was launched by CSI 2 years ago. Several new territories have been sanc-tioned in the past couple of months, and the USAPL is man-aged by well known and knowledgable pool and billiard in-dustry veterans. Starting in the far east of the U.S., long time in-dustry vet, coach and junior mentor, Roy Pastor, signed for the New England USAPL territory. Covering sections of Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire, Pastor has teamed up with long time partner Walter Zincavage to ensure the New England USAPL host rooms and players will have unparalled service. Also in the New England area, Alex Alpert has start-ed the Boston USAPL. This USAPL territory will encompass not just Boston but also Rhode Island and sections of New Hampshire. Heading into the Mile High City, well known pool and billiard personality, coach and journalist, Samm Diep Vidal and her husband pro player Marc Vidal have signed as the USAPL League Managers in the Denver metro area. With the Vidal’s marketing expertise the Rocky Mountain USAPL is sure to be fun and exciting. Moving up to the stunning Seattle area, Billiards 911 owners Jessi and Courtney Nester have signed to be the Puget Sound USAPL League Managers. Covering the southern Seattle metro area, Takoma and southern King County, the Nesters have been involved in the pool and billiard industry for 13 years and highly respected in the Pacific Northwest for their knowledge and professionalism. In the US heartland, 25 year league veteran and former owner of Akron Sports Pubs I and II, John Jarvis, is leading the helm of the Akron / Canton USAPL. Ohio is known as a hotbed of midwest pool activity. The matchplay one-on-one format should be highly appealing to the com-petitive Ohio players. For contact information on the newly listed leagues above and all 42 USA Pool Leagues, visit www.playusapool.com. If interested in information about becoming a USAPL League Manager and developing a territory, visit the Start A League section of the USAPL web site at www.playusapool.com or contact CSI USAPL National Manager, Mark Estes, at [email protected]

CSI Open Events“The Magician” Efren Reyes Crowned

US Open One Pocket Champion “The Magician” Efren Reyes went undefeated through the full 64-player field to become the 2011 (12th) US Open One Pocket Cham-pion at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Produced by CueSports International, the $10,000 added event drew the finest one pocket players from around the world as well a room full of sophisti-cated spectators. Reyes defeated poker star Chris Gentile in the single set finals 5-2. This was Gentile’s first U.S. Open One Pocket and his most successful finish in a major one pocket event.

The finals of the 3rd US Open 10-Ball Championship May 21, 2011 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, Las Ve-gas was between two highly decorated professionals from both sides of the Atlantic. After 6 days, the field of 96 player’s, representing 10 countries, whittled down to U.S. favorite Shane Van Boening and Spain’s David Alcaide. Held at the Riviera Hotel & Casino and produced by CueSports Internation-al (CSI), in front of an enthusiastic crowd, Van Boening was crowned the 2011 champion, winning 11-6.
