    Healthy Eating Guidelines

Cubby recognizes the importance of healthy eating for the growth and development of youngchildren and is committed to supporting the healthy food and drink choices of children.

We will always encourage children to eat the more nutritious foods provided in their lunchbox, such as sandwiches, fruit, cheese and yoghurt, before eating any less nutritious food provided.

We discourage the provision of highly processed snack foods high in fat, salt and sugar and low inessentialnutrientsinchildrenslunchboxes. Examples of these foods include lollies, chocolates, sweet biscuits, muesli bars, breakfast bars, fruit filled bars and chips. As well as these foods notbeing nutritious, itisunfairfortheotherchildrenatthetabletonothavethesespecialoccasionfoods included in their lunch boxes.

We have many children with food allergies, food intolerances and special dietary needs. So it isvery important to remind everyone that the centre is nut-free (you all signed a form onenrolment). Please be really careful to check the labelling on processed foods you send as a lotcontain nuts, without you knowing. Also a lot of the children that attend Cubby have severe

allergies to egg and/or seafood... so if we could ask you to consider this before sending egg orseafood meals.

    Reminders

Just a few reminders to parents:

It is important, whenpackingyourchildrens food, not tosend wrappings and containers that have the potential tocause choking in our smaller children. No plastic bagsplease.

Tops of yoghurt and food squeezy pouches are verydangerous. The lid on the right of the picture will not beaccepted at Cubby. Itstatesclearlyonthecontainernotsuitable for children under 3.

Although it is really feeling like winter these last fewweeks... we please ask you to still take out your childs hatout of their bag on arrival and place on the hat stand. As itis a government policy that all children and staff must wear hats whilst outside it isfar easier for us to pick up the stand and go outside... rather than a staff membergoing through 20+ bags to collect hats

All Cubby members must use BigPond email only ([email protected]), notthe hotmail account. And remember, please call the centre on 97436591 if you needto make or cancel a booking- email must not be used for this purpose.

Please remember to ask at reception for your term payment receipt. The friendlystaff will be happy to help.
