c:scape Designed for a connected workplace

We live in a world where people are permanently connected to information - and to each other.

This has started to change the nature of work itself as well as the way we work. These changes

have created the need for a different workplace, one that is connected.

A connected workplace is highly collaborative and socially driven. It takes into

consideration space constraints through smaller footprints without neglecting the

wellbeing of the user. It also provides a setting that attracts and retains employees and helps

build trust in a company’s brand.

That’s why Steelcase has introduced c:scape, a solution designed specifically to connect

today’s workplace.

Why c:scape?

1 - It optimises your space. From the open to the private office, you can create a wide range

of work settings with only four multifunctional elements.

2 - It suits people working together, allowing them to switch easily between focused

individual tasks and collaborative working.

3 - It’s seamless, courtesy of its open and light design and is ideal for tasking

and teaming spaces, management offices and in-between areas.

Observations & Insights

1 / Observation: expectations of office-space are greater than ever while footprints are shrinking. Insight: companies need desking systems which optimise space and can easily be configured in various settings.

2 / Observation: collaboration is becoming the standard way of working. Insight: users need enclosed offices and open spaces that support collaborative work but also provide privacy.

3 / Observation: the use of technology is more prevalent than ever but people often find technology is not well-supported at their workplace. Insight: workspace has to support technology properly and enable people to share ideas quickly and seamlessly.

With the rise of technological devices, users need greater support on workstations.

Footprints are shrinking.

Furniture needs to be more open to support collaboration.

Smart functions for space optimisation

It’s multifunctional. The four key components of c:scape can be used to create a variety of applications for both individual and

collaborative work, either in open plan or in private office space.

The c:scape desk can be flipped or repositioned along the storage and share legs with another desk, on the side and at the back.

Reconfigurations become quick and cost effective.

c:scape with low storage, tall mid storage, desks with height adjustable legs, personal / modesty screens, Amia chairs and Plurio single monitor arms.

Open storage under the desks is the perfect place for personal items. Power and data is easily accessible in both the desk and low storage.The desk leg shape enables knee-swing during side-by-side collaboration with others. Tackable centred screens provide a visual boundary while providing a display facility. The low storage tops act as additional space and can support shelving to file documents that need to be easily reached.

It’s innovative. Access to power everywhere you need it: at the desk and from the storage connect zone (distribution through storage).

For space efficiency, you have direct access to higher storage capacity at the desk, with the mid storage cabinets on top of low storage.

Seamless, open and light design

In today’s workplace, footprints are shrinking while expectations of those footprints are growing.

A “connected workplace” needs to work smarter and often smaller. c:scape components were designed

for reduced spaces. They are smaller in scale and lighter in feel. They touch the ground lightly and enable people

to sit, lean and talk.

It’s user friendly. c:scape is designed to be intuitive to your needs by taking you and the way you work into consideration.

Slide the desk top, plug in your laptop or simply let your device charge while the drawer is closed.

By removing barriers to collaboration, this work setting enables a team to stay closely connected to each other, creating a great

social space. Team members can quickly switch between focused and collaborative work.

- Desks and storage provide plenty of surfaces for sharing documents and for side-by-side collaboration.

- Top of low storage acts as additional space where someone can sit for a few minutes or documents can be kept.

- Power and data connection are easily accessible from storage, whenever and wherever needed.

The drive to create more collaborative working spaces is gathering pace as companies recognise that people working

in small groups are delivering improved, tangible business results.

This benching work setting allows mobile workers such as visiting consultants to arrive and quickly connect with co-workers.

This in-between space demonstrates the planning versatility of the few, simple components of c:scape. It enables you and your

Worktools

Integrated to c:scape applications, Worktools solutions - such as SOTOTM LED light and Plurio monitor arm - are designed to

improve comfort and workstation ergonomics. When fixed directly on the c:scape rail, they still allow the desktop to slide.

The Universal CPU support for c:scape will help free up desk space and protect the CPU.

1+1 organisation tools such as the letter tray, toolbox and binder holder help manage clutter and organise information, in the c:scape

low - or mid storage or on the c:scape shelves.

All in all, users have a healthier workspace; they are more organised and better connected to technology, enabling them

to have a better day at work.

Plurio

In a world where multi-taskers must manage more information in less time, there is an increasing requirement for multiple screens.

Plurio monitor arms offers numerous options in a scalable system that easily adapts to any c:scape application.

Plurio also makes a valuable ergonomic contribution in that it ensures the user’s eyes are levelled with the screen, creating

comfortable and healthy working positions. Plurio maintains multiple screens alignment across the entire focal adjustment range,

helping the technology adjust to the user rather than forcing the user to adjust to the technology.

Plurio allows us to go from a single, to a dual, to a triple, to multiple screens with the same set of components.

The use of c:scape’s sliding top enables quick and easy installation thanks to specific fixing.

Product Environmental Profile (PEP). Based on ISO 14021, its purpose is to communicate precise and verifiable

information on environmental aspects of the product during its life cycle.

Indoor Advantage. This product, when made in Europe and in North America, is Indoor Advantage™ certified, meaning

that it meets tough indoor air quality standards.

PEFC. The wooden components are PEFC certified (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), ensuring

that wood originates from sustainably managed forests.

E1. The particle boards comply with the “E1 standard” guaranteeing a low level of formaldehyde emissions.

Oeko-Tex. A selection of polyester or pure wool fabrics are labelled with the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard - guaranteeing that

limit values are respected.

European Flower. A selection of pure wool fabrics are labelled with the European Flower - awarded to products

meeting stringent quality and environmental performance criteria – is available.
