The Pacic Cruise Market Research and Intelligence Report, funded by The European Union, was prepared by Sydney-based CHART Management Consultants. The report covers the scale of the South Pacic, geographic coverage, growth and potenal. South Pacic Tourism Organisaon ceo Ilisoni Vuidreke said the study sets a course for the region to respond to growing economic potenal from cruising. “This report is an extension of the work being carried out in the region to support our member countries set up cruise commiees & create a consolidated approach to prepare their ports for vising cruise liners,” Vuidreke added. Informaon on capacity, source markets, desnaons and issues & challenges are covered - aimed at helping naons plan and gure relevant infrastructure investment for their own long-term growth. In addion, island naons will benet from learning about how the cruise industry works & what facilies and services to provide. The report also aims to set up Pacic Island naons to prosper from the overall success of the cruise industry in this region. CLIA Australasia chairman Neil Linwood said cruise lines were eager to work with naons to rene sustainable income streams. “With good planning, management and collaboraon, all Pacic island countries stand to benet from the growth of cruising - economically and socially,” Linwood commented.
