Current Grid Activities

• Evaluation of the DATAGRID middleware

• Implementation of the Valencia testbed site:– Maintenance of a Globus meta-directory:

• Institutional MDS of Valencia “dc=ific, dc=es, o=Grid”

– Integration of Valencia into the DATAGRID testbed:• Globus gatekeeper;

• Globus Condor and PBS job-manager;

• GSI authentication through the Spanish (in IFCA) CA

• Etc,...

Current Grid Activities

• We are participating in this year in the DATA CHALLENGE 1(DC1) of ATLAS experiment with two goals:

– Event productions in our farm in order to provide samples for physics studies and make the Technical Design Report for the end of 2002.

– To test in our farm the new software, including Geant4, the new event data model and the evaluation of two database technologies, Objectivity and Root-I/O.

Networking in Spain

• ISP: RedIris (Spanish Academic Research Network)– Geant connectivity at 2.5 Gbits/s.– US connectivity at 180 Mbits/s.

Valencia Networking

• Gibabit Ethernet BackBone in local area network.

• Fiber optic link with University BackBone using Gigabit Ethernet

• Fiber optic link of 155 Mbits/s with IP over ATM from the University to RedIris (Shared among other Universities and research centers of the “Comunidad Valenciana”)

• Acquired an infrastructure for Grid activities from CSIC-Universitat de València:– Grupo de Ordenadores para el GRID (GoG)– 192 CPU’s

• Chassis: 2U (Rack Mountable)

• CPU: AMD K7 Athlon @1.2GHz

• Memory: 1 Gbytes, PC133

• HD: 40 Gbytes, ATA 100 @7200 rpm

• NIC: 100 Mbps full duplex.PXE 2.1, WOL
