Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry “My House will be known as a house of prayer,” Je-sus said in Matthew 21. Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry invites you to join them in praying for the lost. We all have family and friends that do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sin only He can offer. Who can you pray for?

Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry meets the first Sunday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in Room 105 for a time of prayer for salvation for the lost. The next Touch LIFE prayer gathering will be Sunday November 5.

Women’s Book Club The Women’s Book club has been busy this fall. With the help of individuals and several Sunday School classes, Bags of Care were de-livered to students at Crescent Elementary. These bags contained personal hygiene items for the children who benefit from our Bags of Love which provide food for the weekends. Ms. Theresa Lewis, Crescent Elementary prin-cipal, told us the children were pleased and ex-cited to receive the Bags of Care. She suggest-ed we try to provide these items every three months. The next delivery will be made the first week of December. If you would like to help with this project please fill a gallon size Ziploc (storage) bag with the items are listed here. You can leave your bag in the church pantry or give it to a book club participant. Combining the November and December meet-ings, The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, November 28th at 10:30a.m. to discuss the short story by O. Henry , The Gift of the Ma-gi. This is a sentimental story with a moral les-son about gift-giving. It is often adapted for presentations during the Christmas season. The group plans to watch the dvd movie, The Gift of the Magi, together while having brunch. If you would like to join us, we will meet in the church lobby. Copies of the short story are available at the Welcome Center. Looking ahead you may want to read our next selection for January. It is Hiding in the Light, Why I Risked Everything to Leave Islam and Follow Jesus by Rifqa Bary. This is an amaz-ing story of one woman’s spiritual journey. Our selection for February is The Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Dennis Moore. This book has been made into a movie that is currently showing.

Peru & Back A Youth Pastor’s Journey—Part 3

Missions should always be about loving our neighbor. In the book of Mark it states, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus was sharing this with the crowd, teach-ers of the law, and the disciples. Our mandate as believ-ers and followers of Jesus is to love our neighbor. Jesus then answered the question of who is our neighbor in Luke chapter 10 with the parable of the Good Samari-tan. Our neighbors are everywhere, from the people next or our homes, to the people we work with, and the person we come in contact with at the super market. How do we show love and mercy to those people in our lives every day? As we were working on the compound in Reque, Peru, we didn’t just want to build a structure, which we did; we also wanted to help love our neighbors and their neighbors. From this truth birthed an idea about helping love not only the missionary and his family but also helping families that were a part of the mission. The Church of God national office developed five leader-ship principles that are foundational for developing the leader within and around you. The national youth min-istry has taught these principles in Europe, India, Afri-ca, South America, Central America, and the Caribbe-an. Our missions team shared these 5 principles with the teachers and also provided a meal for them after-wards. This simple act of loving them and attempting to show that we cared opened many doors of relationship and opportunities with the teachers. This happened to the point that the day after the 5 principles training the teachers wanted to play a game of volleyball with us. The volleyball game was quickly over due to an unfair size advantage on our behalf. This then led to a fun game of soccer where we found out about their ad-vantage. Overall this prompting of the Spirit to love the teachers led to great strides in building a relationship with the staff at the school.

Cross Point Elder Board Have you ever heard one of the pastoral team mention the Elder Board and wondered what they were talking about? In this short article we are going to inform you of what the El-der Board is and who they are so you will have a better un-derstanding. What is the Elder Board? The elder board is composed of 6 individuals who serve to provide spiritual guidance and consultation for the church. These individuals are elected by the congregation to serve 3-year terms. Elders offer guidance in coordinating and imple-menting church ministry and program. Below are some of the tasks Elders often assist with among others: *They assist in researching and gathering facts to make wise decisions to advance the mission of Cross Point Church. *Work directly with the senior pastor and other pastoral staff to maintain the spiritual focus of the church.

*Oversee the business and fiscal affairs of the church and ensure an annual budget is created and presented for approv-al by the congregation. *Responsible for Personnel Policies and provide assistance in selecting, hiring, discharging, and otherwise directing the employment of personnel. Who are the Elders? The current elders include Diane Kirk, Gary Nichols, Ryan Haga, Jason Bess, Harry McClung, and Brian Lopez. The treasurer also serves as a member of the Elder Board but does not have voting privileges. The current treasurer is Janie Davis.

"Give thanks no matter what happens. God wants you to thank him because you believe in Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIrV

DO THIS: MORNING TIME Start the month by putting a sticky note somewhere in your home that mentions something you are grateful for. Tell your kids to be on the lookout for it and whoever is the first to find it, gets to hide the next sticky note about what they are thankful for the next day. Do this until everyone has had a turn finding the note and deliv-ering it.

DRIVE TIME When you are driving around ask your kids to pick something they see that they are thankful for, but to not say it aloud. Tell them to play "I Spy" with their choice and try to guess what they are thankful for! MEAL TIME Q & A for kids: What is something you can’t imagine living without? Who should you thank for that thing? Q & A for parents: If you could go back in history and thank one person for something they did to help the world, who would it be?

BED TIME Read Luke 17:11-19. List as many people as you can think of who have done something for you in the past few weeks. Now, make a plan to say “thank you” the next time you see those people. Each year Cross Point Church participates in Op-eration Christmas Child. The mission of Opera-tion Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. They do this through shoe boxes filled with toys and goodies that are distributed, along with literature about Jesus Christ, to children around the world. Millions of people around the world participate in packing a shoe box for this outreach ministry. Helpful Tip With the summer break over and school starting up, many stores are now running sales on school related items such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, and other items. Prayer Chain Prayer is a powerful tool we have as Christians. As a church family we can help lift each other up in prayer. One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Pray-er Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When an ur-gent prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684.

Download the App Today http://get.theapp.co/4d41

You Can Give Through the Cross Point App! Ever been at church and not have cash or a check on you when it’s time for the offering? With Cross Point’s newest way to give that will no longer be an issue. You can now conveniently and securely give through the Cross Point App. Giving is easy. Just open the giving option on the CP App, enter your giving amount, hit submit, and you are finished! The first time you use the app for giving you will be asked to create an account. Once your account is created and verified you will be able to use the app to give.

Prefer to write a check or use cash for your giv-ing? No problem. You will still be able to give this way. The app is just one additional way to give. You can also conveniently and securely give us-ing the Cross Point website at: www.beckleycrosspoint.org and click on the giv-ing link.

To submit a prayer request, follow this procedure: Monday-Thursday 8:00a.m.—4:00p.m.: Call the church office at: (304) 252-6684. All other times, call Justin Davis at (304) 575-2363. If no answer, leave a message and Justin will put it on the prayer chain as soon as possible.
