The Creed of Abu Hasan al-Ash'aree in the Latter Part of His Life

Examples Of The Creed Outlined By Abu Hasan al-Ash'ari in His Last Books

Abu Hasan al-Ash'ari said in his book al-Maqaalaat:The summarisation of that which the People of Hadeeth and Sunnah are upon...And then he lists that which they were upon including therein:

And that Allaah the Sublime and Exalted is upon (alaa) His Throne just as He hassaid: "Ar-Rahmaan has ascended (istawaa) the Throne" (Soorah Taa Haa 20:5)and

And that He has two Hands, without asking how, just as He has said: "I created you with My (Two) Hands." (Soorah Taa Haa 20:75) and as He has said: "But [both]His Hands are outstretched." (Soorah Maa'idah 5:64)and

And they affirm both Hearing and Seeing for Him and they do not negate that fromAllaah as the Mutazilah have negated it.

    and

And they affirm the ahaadeeth which have come from the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam): "Verily, Allaah descends to the lowest heaven and says: Is thereanyone who seeks forgiveness", in the manner in which it has come from the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam)and

And they see the necessity of following the Salaf from the Scholars of the Religion who do not innovate into their religion that for which Allaah has given no permission.and

And they say the Qur'aan is the Speech of Allaah, it is not created. And he affirmed all of that which the Salaf us-Saalih affirmed regarding the attributes of Allaah and other matters of aqeedah and finished by saying:

This is a summarisation of what they [the People of the Hadeeth and the Sunnah]order with, employ and deem necessary [to believe]. And everything that has beenmentioned from their speech, we speak likewise and tend towards it.And whoever desires more can refer to his aforementioned books al-Ibaanah and al-Maqaalaat. So this demonstrates that Abu Hasan's adoption of the way of the creed of Imaam Ahmad in the affairs of creed is documented in his own books, pennedby his own hands. When the Ash'ariyyah have no way of denying this, they take two approaches:

To discredit the books and claim he did not author them, and when that fails, toclaim he wrote them out of hypocrisy, to protect his own lifeOr to focus on the aqeedah of Imaam Ahmad and claim it was basically a mixture of some ta'weel and tafweedh - this being an adopted strategy, when they fail intheir first approach. So the Ash'aris of today are characterized by plots and plans, trickery and deception, and their polemical approach is characterized by their focus on bringingdown the likes of Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, and other forms of character assassinations - when they are unable to establish their false usool and their false creed (derived from the usool of the Jahmiyyah and Mu'tazilah) by way of textual and historical evidences (i.e. demonstrating that their usool are those ofthe Salaf of the first three generations).
