Barcelona Market

I went to my neighborhood market with one question:

Where do I usually buy?

Where do I usually buy?

And why?

Open spacesMost people tend to

get in easier if there

is no barrier

between the inside

and the outside of

the shop.

Shop windowsFinely decorated shop windows are an old trick,

but still people stop and stare at them. They do

work.

On the contrary, poorly worked shop windows do

not grab the attention and customers may doubt

of the quality of the goods.

People attract peopleWe like to see people like us in

shops. This gives reputation to the

place.

I especially look at people before I

get into a restaurant to see if I will

like it.

However we don’t like lines!

Before waiting too long in a line for

your turn you’ll probably think twice

if you really want that much what

you’re buying.

Beautiful places

We are probably

going to spend

more time on a

place we like.

Light, colors,

temperature and

music all

influence our

willingness to

stay longer.

Lessons I learned,

and opportunities identified

Opportunities

One of the shops I visited was dark

and half empty, even though the

area was crowded.

Proper lighting and better shop

windows would make the place

more comfortable.

Opportunities

I escaped one of the supermarkets because the

waiting lines for checkout were huge.

That’s why most shops don’t have the desk just in

front of the door, even though if that would be better

to prevent theft.

Another supermarket in the neighborhood has a

better policy: if there are more than 3 people in a

line, a new checkout lane is opened.

Thank you
