CREATIVE BUSINESS CUPWELCOME TO CREATIVE BUSINESS CUP 2015AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS, great people of countries from all around the world meet these days in Copenhagen to strengthen entrepreneur-ship and business development within the creative industries. It is still a part of the world of today’s agenda, as the possibilities for growth, job creation, and innovation are yet to be realized.

This year, it is even more profitable to be a part of Creative Business Cup for both entrepreneurs and investors. The new initiative, Innova-tion Challenges – challenges within a specific field – gives the possibili-ties for startups who wish to pitch their ideas for large corporations.

BLUETHUMBAUSTRALIA

CONTACT: Edward Hartley / [email protected]: www.bluethumb.com.auFIELD: Art and crafts

ABOUT: Bluethumb is Australia’s leading online art platform and is a concept, which had its origin in a decision to marry the best of art and technology. Our service builds a bridge between those who are inter-ested in art and those who love to create art. We erase the limitations of physical space, making the internet a gallery for Australia’s artistic talents.

Bluethumb makes it easier to be an artist. Along with the exposure to art collectors that comes with the hundreds of thousands of visits we get a month from across the web and from our apps, we make it easy to

sell art online. And for artists, sign up is free. We also make it easier to be an art lover. We only accept art that is truly original, we offer secure SSL credit card transactions and PayPal, and our 7-day money back guarantee means that you can buy with complete confidence.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Bluethumb are pioneers disrupting the traditional art gallery system by giving Australian artists a platform to sell their work directly from the studio to the collector. Unlike other online galleries, we connect artists with art lovers on an equal platform. Any artist can exhibit and sell on our site, so we have some of the best well-established artists exhibiting alongside emerging artists.

Technology and innovation is our absolute focus. In 2014, The Bluethumb – art unearthed app was awarded Best Shopping App at the Australian Mobile & App Design Awards and won a 2014 International W3 Gold award.

LAIKACHILE

CONTACT: Camila Ávalos / [email protected]: www.laika.socialFIELD: Publishing, Software, computer games and electronic publishing

ABOUT: Laika is the first free mobile app that solves the problem of abandoned dogs in Latin America and the world. Laika integrates dog adoption thanks to our NGO partners and helps to find the right dog compatible with the owner’s lifestyle. We believe that for each owner there is a perfect dog, and for each dog there is a perfect owner. Furthermore, to eradicate the negative cycle of abandon-ment, we include dog administration in our platform for the dog care through food, vaccine, walk reminders, medical records, and more. The application also allows peo-

ple to educate themselves and be informed about pet related news, tips, events based on responsible ownership, and adoption stories.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: There is no other application that integrates dog adoption, responsible pet ownership and owner education. Our value and strategy focus on promoting private and public pet-related entities, giving a different space that will commit people and simultaneously provide monitoring of the problem. Laika will be launched for mobile devices. Furthermore, we are creating a web administrator that strengthens the work of pet NGOs, giving them a tool to manage adoptions, dogs, owners and volunteers. From there, we will generate strategic alliances with pet brands, hoping they will take part in the problem of abandoned dogs.

ARTHESISBULGARIA

CONTACT: Georgi Chipov / [email protected]: www.arthesiscovers.comFIELD: Design, Fashion

ABOUT: We make beautiful prosthetic cov-ers for leg amputees. People with artificial limbs do not like how their prosthesis looks. The problem for the amputees is similar to our problem with clothes. If we wear something that we do not like, we will not feel comfortable. When we feel confident, we can achieve more.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: We started with 3D printed products, but we found they are very expensive. This is why we found a way to make cheaper prosthetic covers with predefined designs and sizes. The cost is also reimbursable in many countries, even in Bulgaria.

ABOUT: Our main products are green projects that support 1) sustainability by means of dealing with gardens by providing tumblers (rotating composters) and 2) farms by providing suitable composting systems. Taking into consideration the hot climate and using modern-ized methods, we also produce sprouted barley grass for (a) feeding animals and (b) providing healthy food supplement for humans. This comes in three products: barley juice, barley grass powder and wheat grass powder.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: We are the first company in Bahrain to provide composting systems, as we help to convert or-

ganic waste into compost fertilizers. The hot climate in the Kingdom of Bahrain results in shortage of water supplies, but by using our methods we can retain water in order to provide our local farmers with fertilizers and soil amendments. Our business focuses on green conservation and environmental sustainability.

NDEY FATUCYPRUS

CONTACT: Ndey Fatou Ceesay / [email protected]: www.noir.boutiqueFIELD: Fashion

ABOUT: NDEY FATU is an exclusive handcraft fashion brand. Our clothes are for women looking for ethnic luxury. We use free hand embroidery to produce unique garments, offering bespoke pieces to individuals who seek high-end tailored style. For centuries, Africa has designed garments using embroidery, beading, draping, folding and patchwork. NDEY FATU elaborates on these techniques by infusing them with stylish fabrics that allow us to shape silhouettes with the modernity of current trends. NDEY FATU produces handmade luxury made of the very best materials and created by the most accomplished craftspeople in manual free-hand embroidery and hand beading. The clothes we produce all have contemporary cuts and are then sent to the atelier to be embroidered and beaded. No more than fifteen pieces of any particular design are ever made.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: The unique selling point of NDEY FATU is that we are experts in African Manual Embroidering, an art that has been perfected for centuries in Sub-Saharan Africa but never used on contempory materials such as cotton etc. It is a technique that has been trapped in African fashion because it was always used traditionally. Through experimentation we found that almost any type

of fabric can be embroidered manually, given the proper stabilizer. As this technique is a manual process and not digital, any pattern created using free-motion machine embroidery is unique. It cannot be exactly reproduced, unlike computerised embroidery.

CHUMMUNITYCROATIA

CONTACT: Jelena Ribic / [email protected]: www.chummunity.comFIELD: Publishing, Software, computer games and electronic publishing

ABOUT: Imagine all untold stories, imagine a place where you can find a writer to write yours and imagine that every writer in the world has a job. That is what we do. We are Chummunity, an online marketplace

Moreover, narrative therapy is known to help people that are dealing with disease, death, loneliness, depression. Our advantage is that we have already established the best possible system in the production process to make this as simple and user friendly as possible for both writers and customers.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Nobody can question that technology is future but we all have to question the humanity of that technology. On one hand we have people who forgot how to share

their emotions, and on the other we have creative people like writers and artist who can’t find their place in the digital era. We use technology as a tool that connects these two groups, and we are making a huge social impact at the same time. There are not many start-ups in Culture, let’s change that!

Monokini 2.0 beachwear line offers suita-ble, stylish, high-end designer swimwear for millions of single-breasted women all around the world. Three years ago we received a letter from a woman who has gone through breast cancer: “As a single-breasted woman I cannot find anything but uncomfortable bathing suits. CLEARCOMMFAROE ISLANDS

CONTACT: Pol Andrias Larsen / [email protected]: www.beak.foFIELD: Software, computer games and electronic publishing

ABOUT: ClearComm seeks to improve the communication and day-to-day activity planning for people with autism (users) and the people around them, specifically parents and employees (helpers) in institu-tions where people with autism live and work. This is made possible with an app and a website where employees or parents can set up and manage the user’s daily schedule. Additionally, all images used in the schedule are available as picture communication symbols (PCS) inside the app. There are two versions of ClearComm. ClearComm Home is for individual users, where most often the parents are the helpers – this is for iOS devices. ClearComm for institutions allows multiple helpers to manage multiple users. Both allow for planning far into the future, and both contain PCS based communication. Later, institutions will be able to cooperate with the users, as users use different institutions throughout their day, such as home, school, work, etc.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Not many picture based schedule apps exist, and many of them are complicated and do not include picture communication. ClearComm makes it easy for helpers or parents to plan several weeks in just a few minutes. Being able to communicate within the same app as the schedule is in, is unique, in

that no other app that we know of can do the same. The planned future development for institutions to work together, allowing the users to have a single schedule for their entire day, is completely new. There is, to our knowledge, no app, program or website that allows this at present.

ACTIVE FRAGRANCESLUXEMBOURG

CONTACT: Philippe Briot / [email protected]: www.essentialfactory.comFIELD: Art and crafts, Software, computer games and electronic publishing

ABOUT: It was a nice straight road in the countryside; the sky was blue on a light spring day. The car speed was within the allowed limit. A few seconds later, the car was in a ditch. When the paramedics found the badly injured car occupants, they wondered: what happened? Lack of vigilance during driving is the cause of many car accidents on roads every year. It ranks fifth in the root causes of road fatalities, after drink driving and speed, and it impacts everyone. Some essential oils have demonstrated an impact on concentration and stress management. Single oils have specific impacts on behavior and have been studied for many years. Essential Factory develops active fragrances composed of essential oils that maintain car drivers’ focus and help them to deal with stress during tricky or emergency situations. Active fragrances are diffused as a perfume.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Essential oils interact directly with our brain. Their effect is various, from calming to focusing and helping to concentrate. Research experiments show that inhaling low doses of essential oils has an effect on emotional states of mind, on the autonomous nervous system, and on brain electrical activity. Road

fatalities are a serious concern for society. Each year, around 2200 lives* are lost within the EU due to driver’s distraction. Its direct cost* to EU society (fatal crashes, injury crashes and damaged property) is estimat-ed to be over 12 billion euros. CITYBIRDSLITHUANIA

CONTACT: Ignas Survila / [email protected]: www.citybirds.lt/demoFIELD: Design

ABOUT: Citybirds is a company that designs, develops and sells eco-vehicles. The product “PIGEON” may be folded by a one-time pushing of a foot – after folding it is compact and streamline-formed, thus making it comfortable in use. Moreover, when folded PIGEON perfectly fits to a shoulder and a consumer can carry it easily. The main

philosophy was to reject all the unnecessary details and leave just the essence of it. That’s why PIGEON is composed of only three essential parts: Vertical, horizontal and folding, rotating part. Therefore, the gen-eral construction of the product became lighter and PIGEON became one of the lightest scooters on the market. Finally, PIGEON is not just a scooter, it is a user-friendly fashion object, design, and comfortability brand.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Our main philosophy is that every detail in the project should be significant and important. That is why we are slightly pernickety and detail-focused in every case we are working on. Moreover, everything in our product – graphic design, marketing, engineering, communicating, branding - plays a

very important role in our business and we are picky in all the different situations. Thinking globally, including user and ecological points of view in every case, gives us the energy to create and be innovative. User-friendliness and comfortability are the key points.

The MOSES solution brings second life to existing fountains, which were great projects when made 5 years ago, but nowadays lack interac-

tion as well as responsiveness. The Internet of everything dictates the rules of nowadays entertainment – and we are dictated, too. There is more than 10 billion euro market in fountain industry and the market is steady.

Smart cities are investing more and more to attract more visitors. Shopping malls invest more to attract visitors – interactive technologies and the internet of everything are already must-haves today!

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: The fountain costs range from 100,000 Euro to 5 million and more.

Our solution costs are maximum 10% of the fountain budget. There-fore, the profit is attractive – even a small investment generates twice the value of fountain costs. This solution is easy to scale to any new fountain and those no older than 5 years. We give second life to great

fountains around the world – we believe this is an inevitable trend.

ABOUT: An app for site specific podcasts. When visiting a city, instead of taking the tourist-bus or following the guide holding that flag, you can browse nearby podwalks, plug in your headphones and start explor-

ing. Walks can be specific, like the history of NYC’s West Village told through the voices of beat poets and folk singers. You can travel in time when listening to Sherlock Holmes stories in London´s Baker Street. Your commuting bus can become your own personal tourist bus. And if you’re visiting a museum, just take the podwalk. The app knows where you are and matches the story to your location seamlessly. Stories can be located anywhere in the world, streets and parks, on mountain trails and in basement of old castles.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: With Podwalk guided tours are given a much needed technical refresh. Today museums are

paying tons of money for their own custom apps or can’t afford any audio-guides at all. Tourist organizations lack the ability to commu-nicate at locations other than their local offices. By combining the successful format of podcasts (25% annual growth in listeners world-wide) with location aware technologies that exist on any smartphone, content creators are given a brand new tool for communication. The app is free and our professional clients subscribe for a 1/10 of the cost of creating their own technology.

ABOUT: Firefly Upsee is a mobility device that lets children with mo-tor impairment stand upright and walk with the help of an adult. The adult and child are attached via double harnesses and double sandals, enabling them to take steps together simultaneously while both of their

hands are free to play or carry out other tasks. In addition to helping children learn to use their legs, the Upsee harness helps children with mobility impairments participate in family and community activities, giving them the gift of an active childhood. Flying a kite, petting a dog, playing soccer and fishing are just a few of the activities that children around the world are doing in the Upsee. I have licenced Firefly Upsee to Leckey Design, a N. Ireland Rehabilitation Company selling globally. We collaborate to bring the Upsee to the global market.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: I am the end user, inventor and entrepreneur. My son, Rotem, was born with cerebral palsy. At age two, Rotem’s therapists told me that he didn’t know what

his legs were for. I began attaching Rotem to me in various configurations that would enable us to walk together. With my final prototype ready, I travelled to Leckey Designs in N. Ireland. Following a period of evaluations and negotiations, we embarked upon a successful collaboration culminating in the viral launch on April 7, 2014. Unexpected volumes of orders crashed the Firefly website as parents around the world ordered an Upsee.

CLEARCOMMFAROE ISLANDS

ABOUT: ClearComm seeks to improve the communication and day-to-day activity planning for people with autism (users) and the people around them, specifically parents and employees (helpers) in institutions where people with autism live and work. Later, institutions will be able to cooperate with the users, as users use different institutions through-out their day, such as home, school, work, etc.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Not many picture based schedule apps exist, and many of them are complicated and do not include picture communication. ClearComm makes it easy for helpers or parents to plan several weeks in just a few minutes. Being able to

communicate within the same app as the schedule is in, is unique, in that no other app that we know of can do the same. The planned future development for institutions to work together, allowing the users to have a single schedule for their entire day, is completely new. There is, to our knowledge, no app, program or website that allows this at present.

TOLDBYSWEDEN

CONTACT: Martin Odh / [email protected]: www.toldby.meFIELD: Radio and tv

ABOUT: ToldBy is a user generated audio-based mo-bile platform for people going through a life altering change, be it diabetes, breast cancer, alcoholism or mental disorder. In this application we will use diabetes as the example. The platform consists of narratives told by experienced diabetics. The group was interviewed using a template developed by psychologists (CBT) and problem own-ers. The content is structured to follow the specific crisis reaction that a newly diagnosed person goes through. The purpose is to support the user in his/her acceptance of the diagnosis and, subsequently reaching reorientation. This is an important goal, especially for diabetics because with a well treated diagnosis come a lowered risk of complications, less unnecessary suffering and less cost for society. The platform works as an app where the user easily reaches professional support from relevant persons at any given time.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: The ToldBy method is built on the narrated experiences of problem owners. Why? Because we all need to share difficult experiences. Listening to someone who has gone through what you are going through gives a feeling of context and

a motivation to succeed. This method is widely used, but not in a digital, scalable way. ToldBy uses technology that allows users to search all the content for one specific experience, making the platform relevant at all times. The users can also upload their own experiences to the platform, making them available to others.

GLARIFYGERMANY

ABOUT: Glarify is a location based platform for galleries, artists and art-lovers. On Glarify, you can discover interesting new artists, port-folios, opening receptions and exhibitions in your local art scene. In a unique way artists and galleries can present their artworks for free in a portfolio combined with a location on a map. To promote themselves or to highlight an exhibition, they can spend a small amount of money. Our goal is one day to have every single artist and every single gallery represented on this platform and to provide them with a powerful marketing tool. Glarify – find art near you.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Glarify is a social network and the melting pot for all kinds of people who create art, love art and show art - no matter what style. It is not only for established top galleries in Berlin, London, New York, but it is built for the large amount of all the other galleries and single artists who want to become more famous. Artists, galleries and institutions can create a portfolio for free and share the location in an integrated Google map where the works in question can be seen live on-site. Many artists who are not represented in a gallery also have the chance to share their location, be it the café next door, a local bar, their own studio or the garage. They

can market themselves with the help of Glarify to a locally targeted audience and can track exactly how many views an artwork, a show or their own profile attracted, how many contact requests they received, etc. It is planned to create a microcosm for “AdWords” like marketing tools. Such an announcement platform for hyper-local art news, but still with a worldwide focus, in combination with these self-marketing tools is currently not available on the market. Art needs an audience on-site. Emotions only arise in front of the artwork.

ABOUT: Beemgee is a browser-based plot-outlining software that helps authors grow stories out of ideas. Before an author can write the first sentence on a blank page, there must be at least a vague idea of what happens and to whom, of character and plot. Beemgee is a plot-out-lining tool that also helps authors develop their characters. It is unique and innovative because it is web-based SaaS that allows collaboration is based on a graph database focuses purely on plot-outlining and charac-

ter development provides visualisations of plots is not tied to any single medium or genre Beemgee helps media companies evaluate, work on and trade stories.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Beemgee is the first web-based SaaS focussing on plot-outlining: users can collaborate and need never send or carry project files around or install updates. Unlike other professional solutions, Beemgee has Natural User Interface and is very easy to use, even for people with no storytelling experience. There is a powerful but discreet tutorial func-tion. Because Beemgee concentrates on plot-outlining and character de-velopment, Beemgee has a greater range of in-depth functions Beemgee uniquely arranges plot-events on a horizontal timeline. Zoom out for structural views of the entire story, or zoom in to work on a sequence. Highlight and filter according to the categories you want to work on.

Beemgee uses graph database technology Neo4j. Currently, there is no easy-to-use web-based software specialized in plot outlining and character development on the market that helps the author of any medi-um and level of expertise with this essential part of the creative process. Existing plot-outlining programs tend to be for screenwriters, need to be installed, and have other core functions (e.g. Celtx or Final Draft).

Today museums are paying tons of money for their own custom apps or can’t afford any au-dio-guides at all. Tourist organizations lack the ability to communicate at locations other than their local offices. By combining the successful format of podcasts (25% annual growth in listeners worldwide) with location aware technologies that exist on any smartphone, content creators are given a brand new tool for communication.

ABOUT: CuiCui Studios is a company focused on creating interactive games and tales for mobile devices. Our aim is to use technology to create educational and recreational products, giving importance to psycho-ped-agogical aspects that help in the education of the new generations and can help adults monitor the evolution of the users of our apps. At the same time we provide adults with some interesting data about the intelligences and skills developed by users through an interface for parents and teachers.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: There is a variety of elements that give us some advantages versus our competitors: Pedagogical design: Games are planned with an educational goal, and they can be evaluated. It is not a videogame only for entertainment. Multiple Intelligences: As we have previously pointed out, no one else is working with this methodology in mobile devices. This lets us detect patterns and categorize exercises.

Analytics: Results appear for every activity. Results obtained by different users can be compared, and that gives a lot of information to parents and teachers.

Creation of a saga: Our characters will be our brand, and kids can easily create an emotional bond with them. Our market is focused on

generating more games and more stories with the same characters. If one of them becomes the most popular one, we can create more tales or mini games or even create a saga with his or her own adventures.Multi-device: Our mid-term plan is to expand our business to consoles, TV sets or PCs. This is interesting not only for increasing the audience, but also for monitoring the scores regardless of the device they use.

CIRKULARIUM – FOOD LOOPDENMARK

CONTACT: Jonatan Marcussen / [email protected]: www.mejlgadelab.dkFIELD: Gastronomy

ABOUT: “Cirkularium – Food Loop” is an educational learning laboratory for circular processes in urban environments that aim at challenging consumers’ relationship to food and redefining the concept of waste. It’s an open eco-system and symbiosis centre where visitors can learn about the advantages of sustainable waste management through workshops and events. Here, the consumer is directly involved in circular processes whereby organic waste from local cafés is reused as compost and as food for hydroponic and aquaponic systems. Gourmet mushrooms are grown in coffee grounds, fish is served in local restau-rants, and visitors can pick their own herbs in the URTe café.

The Latin Quarter in Aarhus has been selected as the location for the project due to the area’s vibrant gastronomic milieu with numerous restaurants and cafes. The Food Loop-project is very locally rooted and is being carried out by small-scale entrepreneurs and local individuals.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Located in the heart of Aarhus’ Latin Quarter, the project will bring food production and cultivation into an urban context. Production methods such as aqua-

ponics and hydroponics are examples of the future of urban farming. By integrating circular processes into its design, Cirkularium allows the visitors to get close to the roots of their food and provides them with an experience that demonstrates the benefits of resource recycling on a 1:1 scale.

Established in collaboration with residents and local businesses, the project shows how interest groups can support the development of new economically sustainable models.

CITYBIRDSLITHUANIA

ABOUT: Citybirds is a company that designs, devel-ops and sells eco-vehicles. The product “PIGEON” may be folded by a one-time pushing of a foot – after folding it is compact and streamline-formed, thus making it comfortable in use. Moreover, when folded PIGEON perfectly fits to a shoulder and a consumer can carry it easily. The main philosophy was to reject all the unnecessary details and leave just the essence of it. That’s why PIGEON is composed of only three essential parts: Vertical, horizontal and folding, rotating part. Therefore, the general construction of the product became lighter and PIGEON became one of the lightest scooters on the market. Finally, PIGEON is not just a scooter; it is a user-friendly fashion object, design, and comfortability brand.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: Our main philosophy is that every detail in the project should be significant and important. That is why we are slightly pernickety and detail-focused in every case we are working on. Moreover, everything in our product – graphic design, marketing, engineering, communicating, branding - plays a very impor-

tant role in our business and we are picky in all the different situations. Thinking globally, including user and ecological points of view in every case, gives us the energy to create and be innovative. User-friendliness and comfortability are the key points.

ABOUT: Visikon helps hospitals reduce patient anxiety by providing a full digital solution with animated visual communication about treat-ment before, during and after surgery. Our narrated animations and services are primarily accessible through a digital platform operating

on the patient´s own devices as well as the hospital staff´s devices. The platform, in Danish named Mit Forløb, supports the patient´s preparation for hospital treatment, thus reducing anxiety throughout the hospital stay as well as strengthening rehabilitation in the patient´s own home afterwards. This saves hospitals from significant costs due to faster discharge of patients as well as less pressure on the hospital’s post-operative resources. While the digital platform is the main product, the solution also includes a variety of analogue material supporting the offline communication with the same visual narratives and easily accessible information. Thus, the digital platform provides one single solution for the hospital´s information to their patients.

WHAT MAKES THIS BUSINESS UNIQUE: We are evidence-based. Years of scientific study back our product and our approach to custom-ers. Our platform is up and running in several Danish hospitals. CREATIVE BUSINESS CUP was initiated and has for the past four years been organized by CKO – Center for Cultural and Experience Economy, supported by the Danish Ministry of Business and Growth and the Ministry of Culture. As of September 2015, Creative Business Cup has become a new legal entity, a non-profit association open to membership by stakeholders from around the world, also interested in the aim of Creative Business Cup:

Creat ive Bus iness Cup empowers ent repreneurs in the creat ive industr ies , connects them to investors and g lobal markets and st rengthens the i r innovat ive capabi l i t ies to the benef i t o f industry and soc iety .

Today, Creative Business Cup is much more than just a competition; it is a global all-year initiative supporting entrepreneurs from the creative industries in growing their business ideas or – just as important – as contributors of creative and innovative solutions in other industries and society. The main initiatives in 2016 will be:• Expanding the cross sector innovation initiatives: where startups

help corporation with innovation initiatives. In 2015, startups have joined the Arla Food Innovation Challenge, the Cultiva Play Inno-vation Challenge and innovation challenges in Health, ICT (ACE Creative) and Smart, Sustainable Living. Next year, CBC will add more CBC Innovation Challenges in Education, FinTech, Sports and other sectors!

• Continue strengthening the inter-regional collaboration and ca-pacity-building, through regional investor awareness initiatives and bootcamps in Africa, Americas and Asia, such as the initiative in the Gulf Cooperation States, see www.cbcgcc.com

• Consolidating Creative Business Cup as a membership association, including the members, our national partners, corporations and foundations from around the world in the development and expan-sion of Creative Business Cup, in strengthening the link between entrepreneurship and innovation to the benefit of society, the world!

Creative Business Cup supports the potential for growth among creative entrepreneurs and promotes the innovation-spillover effect to other industries by:• Strengthening the business skills of entrepreneurs within the crea-

tive industries through workshops, mentoring and training.• Building and maintaining a global network of innovative minds and

startups.• Creating a platform for sharing of experiences and business

possibilities among creative entrepreneurs, investors, experts and mentors.

• Facilitating match-making between creative entrepreneurs and other industry sectors.

• Reaching out, motivating and celebrating the entrepreneurs and give them skills to further their business development through the competition: The world championship for creative entrepreneurs.

Creative Business Cup is a featured event of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an initiative supported by the Kauffman Foundation. Being one of the top five events, the Creative Business Cup is actively promoted in more than 150 countries across the globe.

Creative Business Cup CompetitionA whole year’s work of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and competitiveness in the creative industries are being done nationally, regionally, and internationally. The core vehicle in CBC is the global competition for creative start-ups – an annual event around which a series of other all-year activities are created. The Creative Business Cup competition organization can be seen in the following figures.

Each spring entrepreneurship organizations around the globe are running national competitions with workshops, boot camps and men-toring schemes to help creative entrepreneurs unleash their potential. Each country selects the five best entrepreneurs, who are then running up for the international competition in Copenhagen, Denmark, to which they are invited.

At the international finals in November (each year) not only nation-al champions but also the national runner-ups, other entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship organizations, policy makers and investors interested in the creative industries are going to Copenhagen to participate in the event. National champions from each country will compete to win the annual title of being the world’s best creative entrepreneur. Other attendees participate in workshops, investor seminars, plenary sessions and a market place demonstrating world the most creative and innova-tive ideas.

The benefits of strengthening entrepreneurial skills in the creative industries are: • Contribution to innovative solutions in society and all other sectors:

Creative entrepreneurs have the ability to find new ways of thinking and address challenges faced by society and within other sectors. Role models demonstrate the power of creative skills.

• Empowerment and social change that transforms people’s lives: Competency building is an important activity in Creative Business Cup. The success stories and role models coming out of the Creative Business Cup competition will inspire and empower other creative individuals to become an entrepreneur themselves.

• Provide quality jobs and reduce poverty: Role models will inspire other potential entrepreneurs, who aspire to develop their own business idea. The development of sustainable business plans with concrete company action plan will contribute for increasing of job creation.
