Create a VPN Connection in Windows 8.1
From the Start Screen
1. Click on the Settings Icon
2. Click on Network
3. Click + to Add a VPN connection
4. Enter EMC's RSA VPN information.
VPN Provider: SonicWALL Mobile Connect
Connection name: EMCVPN
Server name or address: rct2.emcins.com
Click Save
After saving, EMCVPN should be in your VPN network list
5. Return to the Start menu and click on the Search icon. Type Connect in the box.
6. Click on Connect to a Network
7. Select EMCVPN then Connect
8. You may get a security warning about a certificate; please click on Next
9. Under Log in to select VPN then Next
10. Enter your username and passcode. You passcode is your PIN followed by the six
digit key on your RSA token. Click Next.
If you have not yet set your PIN; just enter the number on your token. The system will
then prompt you to set a PIN.
11. You should now be connected.
12. Go back to the search box on the Start menu. Type connect again only this time
select Remote Desktop Connection. You can also find the Remote Desktop Connection
in your Apps Menu under Windows Accessories by swiping up on the Start menu. You
may want to pin Remote Desktop Connection to your Start menu for easier access for the
next time you use EMC remote services.
13. Click the arrow next to Options to expand the box. Enter the following information:
Computer: Your computer number or IP address
User Name: EMCIns\user-name
Then click Connect
14. You may encounter a security warning. Select Yes
15. In the Windows Security box check that EMCIns\user-name is selected. Then enter
your Windows/Domain password for your pc at work.
16. You will then be connected to your work pc desktop.
17. When you are finished with your session please disconnect. Navigate back to the
Network connections by searching for "connection" again from the Start menu. You may
also get to the Networks area by swiping the right part of the screen or clicking F8 on
your keyboard, click on settings, then click on your network connection. By any method
you will then see EMCVPN. Click on EMCVPN area then click on EMCVPN then click
Disconnect.
