March Birthdays

Strategic Planning Committee

The committee is currently focused on several opportunities including talking with references provided by Dr. Bill Wilson to learn more about their experiences with the Center for Healthy Churches, coordinating schedules in March/April timeframe for a grief counseling program and an estate planning seminar. Other possibilities for out-reach programs to support “96 ALIVE” and “Operation Inside Out” are being discussed.

In addition, we have begun to focus on ways to invite the community to share in the “greatest story ever told” through our Easter services including the Children’s Easter Celebration, Sunrise Service, the Easter Worship Service and more.

If you have suggestions for us regarding outreach events or other opportunities in the community, please let us know. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to reach the Cradock community in the name of the Lord.

FINANCIAL CORNER Thank you for your faithful support through your tithes and offerings. The 2017 budget was approved on 2/12/17 at the Called Business Meeting. The 2017 budget is $129,984 or $2,499.69 per week. The 2016 budget was $144,323 or $2,775.44.

Year to date: Income (tithes & offerings): $10,165.13

Expenses (utilities, payroll, etc.) $13,482.29

Net Operating Total: ($3,317.16) meaning expenses exceeded income (tithes & offerings) by $3,317.16

Note: $4,000 of the expenses included in the $13,482.49 above is related to the insurance claim. The $4,000 request will be filed with the insurance company for reim-bursement. Assuming the reimbursement is approved, the Net Operating Total would change from ($3,317.16) to $682.84 meaning income exceeded the expenses by $682.84.

The stewardship committee is steadfast in its commitment to monitor and control expenses and being good stewards of all tithes and offerings. We ask for your prayers as we all work together to support the financial needs of the church in support of this ministry.

This month our focus is on the North American Mission Board and their missionaries. To begin our Week of Prayer for the North American missionaries, there will be a Prayer Breakfast at Fairwood Agape on Saturday, March 4, at 8:00 a.m. The cost is $5 per person. Reservations must be made with Brenda Smith by Monday, February 27.

The week of March 5-12 is our Week of Prayer for the North American missionaries. You will receive a prayer guide and an offering envelope in your bulletin on Sunday, March 5. Please pray for these featured missionaries and their needs.

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® changes lives forever by empow-ering North American missionaries to bring the gospel to the lost. With over 269 million lost people, North America and its major cities are some of the most spiritually dark places in the world. Join us on the mission to equip every missionary and reach every lost person in the United States and Canada. Also, prayerfully consider what you will contribute to the Annie Armstrong Offering. Our goal is $350.

Jesus said we’ll be happy (or “blessed”) when we’re meek, merciful, pure and so on. In other words, happiness results from putting others’ needs above our own. Research confirms that helping others boosts people’s self-esteem, forges strong friendships, offers a sense of purpose, decreases stress, increases gratitude and sparks others to “pay it forward.” In fact, researchers have found that the “activism cure” is a great way to overcome bouts of sadness. So get helping and get happy!
