Hello Friends,
Unlike last year, which was pretty cool in June, it didn’t
take long to get into summer this year. I have been feeling a
little guilty about my dogs not getting much work the last few
weeks. Seems neither of us has much energy to get out there,
and even after just a little yard work, everyone is looking for
some shade and a cold drink. Yup called the Dog Days of
Summer for a reason.
Just to confirm the grounds are closed; gate lock combi-nation changed, and will need to stay that way for June and
July for the annual hay baling. The grass looks good, native
grasses love the heat, and with the new north boundary fence
cleaning up that whole side, it should be a good crop.
We normally have no meetings in June or July and this
year is no different. I’m looking forward to our August meet-
ing, baring unseen events, and will get the word out as soon
as we are sure. The same is true about the Youth Outdoor
Expo the second Saturday in August. I’ll be contacting our
other co-sponsors, Tulsa Fly Fishing, Tulsa Archery, and all
the people involved and come up with a consensus on our
plans by July 15th or so.
So if you can enjoy the lake and work in a few water
retrieves with your hunting buddy.

Sunday Shoot Information Tulsa Bird Dog Association Sunday Shoots are a great way to stay
tuned up with your shotgun over the long summer season. A fun, although
challenging shoot, the game played is unique to TBDA, but easy to pick up
and if you are used to shooting clay birds (or feathered birds!) you’ll likely do
just fine. Even if you’re a beginner, come join us and have a little fun. Bring 75 shells and $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Shooting starts each
Sunday (except holiday weekends) at 8 a.m. at the Tulsa Gun Club. To get to
the club, take 75 north to 56th Street North and then head a few miles till you
see the blue TGC
sign on your right.
Alternatively, head
north on Mingo
Road from the
airport and take a
left on Mowhawk
Blvd. continue till
you see the blue
TGC sign on your
left. See you on
Sunday!

Howdy folks!
Below are some excerpts from the CCO legislative session report from our
lobbyists Tonya and Matt.
We tracked 166 pieces of legislation that had an effect on the member-
ship of the CCO. Many bills were punitive in nature. I have attached the final tracking list for your review. You will see that many bills were “shell bills”,
meaning there was not final language due to the session being cut short or did not meet the appropriated deadline before the covid-19 shutdown.
HB 2534 This was a poultry operation set back bill. It was a top priority
for CCO but was authored by a Democrat. Republican leadership would not
move it.
SB 567 Required the landowner or lessee to request a game warden to
inform hunters on the owner or lessee’s land that it is necessary to obtain the
consent of the landowner or lessee before hunting on the land. The measure
further clarifies that the discharge of a firearm cannot be the sole basis upon which a game warden investigates a hunter in the field or enters private prop-
erty. We worked with ODWC on this. Voted out of committee narrowly with 6-5
vote. We were able to get it prevented from being heard on Senate floor. SB 703 Modifies the circumstances under which the Wildlife Conservation Commission may purchase land. Land purchased by the Commission must be
contiguous to land owned by the Commission, and the Commission prohibited
from acquiring more land than it sells each year.
We worked with ODWC on this. Title was stricken in committee and refused to
hear on the floor. SB 865 States that any stream water permit issued to take and use water
from a definite stream that leaves less than 60% of the annual flow of a Scenic River, 30% of the flow of any other definite stream, or 10% of the annual flow of a stream west of Interstate 35 shall be subject to and junior to any future
instream flow appropriation that may reduce the appropriation of the stream’s water. This measure was another high priority for CCO, due to the nature of
the relationship with the author and the ProTem in the Senate, the bill died in
early March with no movement.
HB 2534 This was a poultry operation set back bill. It was a top priority
for CCO but was authored by a Democrat. Republican leadership would not
move it.
This is obviuously just a smattering of work done by the CCO and it’s
members’s this session. But we wanted to give a bit of an update on what we
were up to, even though it was a truncated session due to the Covid crisis.
