Learning Enrichment Activities Program
Course Schedule WINTER 2020 All classes are held on USR school premises, after school. Classes begin on
Wednesday, January 29th & Thursday, January 30th and end March 25th & March 26th.
There are no classes February 19th & 20th. Make up dates will be April 1st & 2nd (if needed).
Each course runs for eight weeks 2:45 – 3:45pm, pick up at 3:45pm for Reynolds, Bogert & Cavallini

100 Picasso Jr. Dora Dillman course fee $130

Are you creative? Do you enjoy painting and drawing? Then join us and learn how to paint and
draw like an artist! During our classes we will be learning about various artists, working with
different mediums ranging from acrylics to watercolors, as well as, learning new painting and
drawing techniques. Several completed projects will be taken home at the end of the session.

A fun class where creativity and science meet! Participants will learn about crazy chemistry,
environmental science, and have tons of fun doing it. We will make outrageous ooze, rock candy,
slime, and jello play dough among other cool experiments.
Grades 1 & 2 10 students
102 Come Have A Ball Lisa LeFebvre course fee $130
materials fee $5 Have some fun moving in the gym. We’ll be playing all sorts of ball games: soccer, kickball, spud,
wiffle ball and more!! Be ready to learn some new skills, become physically fit, improve your
motor skills, RELAX and have lots of fun. Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers!

103 Bakers Delight Jo Griffith/Edie Carmilani course fee $130

Come and join us for a delicious time of baking!! We will be following recipes, measuring, mixing
and baking up yummy treats that you can eat and take home! Bring your appetite for learning
while having lots of fun!! A healthy snack is always provided. Each student should bring a small
plastic container/tray (lid not required) to carry home their scrumptious baked goods! Please
note that this class uses products that may contain peanuts and tree nuts***********

Calling all engineers! If you enjoy building, designing, being creative and LOVE working with
littleBits, then this is the class for you! Students will navigate through the engineering design
process as they participate in different challenges. littleBits circuits will be designed and built
in all projects. A love for littleBits is a must!

105 Rock The Runway Tracy Nicholson course fee $130

Did you ever want the chance to outfit yourself in style? Well in this class you will make fun
accessories you can actually wear using everything from beads, to rubber bands, and even duct
tape! Let’s be creative together using artistic and mathematical skills while having some fun
with fashion! We will put on our very own Red Carpet Runway Show to proudly display our
creations!

106 Get Ready To Tumble Laurie Guerra course fee $130
Welcome to the fundamentals of gymnastics! Class will begin with a warm up and stretching. We
will focus on bridges, cartwheels, front and back walkovers and handsprings with the help of an
octagon tumbling mat!! Hula hoops and ribbon wands will also be used for rhythmic gymnastics.
(Students should wear athletic attire…sneakers, sweatpants, etc.)

Do you love to act? If you are in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade and love theatre and storytelling, this
class is for you. We will act out short skits and plays. We will work together on a short play.

Gaga is a fast moving and high energy game that keeps all children active and engaged. Known as
the “great equalizer” in playground sports, Gaga requires no special athletic skill or ability and is
enjoyed by children of all ages.

110 Red Hot Robotics Mad Science course fee $180
Explore the basic and complex technology used to design and build robots. Discover how
machines and robots work and how they make our lives easier. Learn about simple machines,
gear structure, battery wiring, motor principles, and electronic circuits. Experiment with
different forms of locomotion – including wheels, legs, and “tracks”. Build your very own robot
and other projects!

Join us and learn hand-building techniques for making clay vessels including: slab, coil and pinch.
We will also learn about joining clay pieces together, adding texture, and glazing the surface.
Several completed projects will be taken home at the end of the session.

201 Outragehisss Pets Outragehisss Pets course fee $160
Outragehisss Pets from Chestnut Ridge, NY will be coming to our school every week. Learn
about animals from our area and beyond!! Each week several different animals will visit and
children will be learning about the habitats and habits of the animals that visit. Children will
have a hands on and up-close experience with the animals!

Together Everybody Achieves More. Do you like the thrill of celebrating with your teammates
after winning a big game? If you do, this course is for you! Come join Mr. Ramirez as he
organizes different team games and activities where students will learn about sportsmanship,
communication and cooperation in order to achieve a common goal. Make sure to bring sneakers
and a water bottle because you will be getting a great workout after school.

207 Creative Hand Sewing So You course fee $160
In this class students will be taught basic hand sewing stitches as well as how to thread and
knot their needle and sew on buttons. Each student will receive their very own sewing kit to
keep. Each week is a NEW, fun hand sewing project. Projects include bags and purses, toys and
games, doll clothes, pillows and jewelry. The projects never end and the fun never stops... Come
join the fun! All materials are included.

Great place to let off some steam!! Let’s have a pick up game of basketball, relay races, sit down
volleyball, kickball and many other playground sports. While sweating in the gym you will learn
game rules, teamwork, respect for others and just enjoy being with new and old friends!

LEAP Policies and Procedures:
Enrollment Process:
1. Submit your class choice by completing the following between Thursday, January 2nd and Friday,
January 17th. ( Please note forms WILL NOT be accepted before the 2nd).
a. Enrollment Form – attached (Please indicate an alternate course choice)
b. Child Release Form – attached
c. Check payable to “ USR BOE LEAP program” for course fee and material fees if applicable.
2. Drop off completed forms and check to the LEAP mailbox located in the schools’ office.
3. We must have an Email address that you check REGULARLY. We will communicate by Email.
4. There will be a $50 charge for registrations after LEAP has started and the classes will not be prorated.
Late registrants will not be able to start classes until the following week.
NOTES:
LEAP classes are booked on a first come, first serve basis; REGISTER EARLY!
Please indicate an alternate course choice in case your 1st choice course is already full.
Courses with low enrollment may be cancelled.
Notifications of enrollment WILL NOT be sent; if you do not hear from LEAP directors, your child is
enrolled in the course you selected.
If the class is canceled or maximum enrollment is met prior to LEAP receiving your child’s enrollment form,
your child will be placed in your alternate course choice and you will be notified by phone or e-mail prior to
the first day of class.
If the class chosen is canceled or full, you can:

Receive a refund in the mail
A fee will be incurred for bounced checks. If sufficient funds are not met, your child will not be permitted
to enroll in future LEAP programs.
If an instructor needs to reschedule/cancel a class, it will be rescheduled during make-up week (usually the
week following the end of the semester); no refunds will be given if your child cannot make the rescheduled
class.
If a school closing occurs, LEAP will be cancelled and a make-up date scheduled.
ATTENDING CLASS:
LEAP strongly advises parents to remind their child on the day of their LEAP class.
Attendance is taken! LEAP checks the absentee list and list of children sent home sick.
LEAP will attempt to reach parents whose children are absent from LEAP and are not on the school
absentee or sick list.
IMPORTANT
If your child will not attend class, please notify LEAP (not your homeroom
teacher) no later than 1:30pm

PICK UP:
Bogert & Reynolds students must be picked up in front of the REYNOLDS/BOGERT SCHOOLS. For safety
reasons, please DO NOT pull into the kiss & drop lanes in front of Reynolds/Bogert. Please park your
car and meet your child by their teacher.
Only those listed on the Child Release form are authorized to pick up your child. You may authorize
someone not listed on your form to pick up your child by sending a note with your child on class day.
Pick up is at 3:45. Students will be supervised until they are picked up. LEAP is not a substitute for
child-care, you will be billed $10 for each 10 minutes beyond pickup time.
DO NOT block cars parked in parking spaces while waiting at pick up. PLEASE PARK IN A SPACE.
Special Information:
Refund Policy:
Total refunds will be given if there is insufficient class enrollment, or if a child drops out before the
registration deadline.
Prorated refunds will be given if a child drops out of a class between the 1st and 2nd class and the
withdrawal does not impact the minimum enrollment (subject to a $25 service charge)
No refunds will be given after the 2nd class, for missed classes, or if the class is canceled due to reasons
beyond the control of LEAP.
Code of Conduct:
LEAP reserves the right to dismiss any student, without refund, for violating the Reynolds & Bogert schools Code
of Conduct. All students participating in the USR LEAP program are expected to behave in a courteous and
respectful manner at all times.
