Gaum Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Gaum is a graduate of Dalhousie University Dental School and currently maintains private oral surgery practice in Mississauga, He practiced general dentistry for five years before taking his specialty training in Anesthesia and Oral Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and Wilmington Medical Centre. He is a former Associate in Dentistry, Faculty Of Dentistry, University Of Toronto where he taught for over 25 years. He is the author of numerous articles on Oral Surgery and Anesthesia. He has published a text book titled: “Oral Surgery for the General Dentist.”, now in its 2nd edition, and produced a DVD titled: “Surgical Videos for the General Dentist.” He is the principal developer of the “ART” Mandibular Block, used successfully by thousands of dentists around the world. Dr. Mark B. Eckler Dr. Mark Eckler is a certified orthodontist. He works with his father, Dr. Gord Eckler and partner, Dr. Shane Black in Mississauga and Brampton. Their practice started over 40 years ago. Mark’s dental education was received at the University Of Western Ontario School Of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1993. Mark attended McGill University Multi-Disciplinary Residency Program before continuing on to the St. Louis University's Graduate Orthodontic Program in 1997. To stay current in all areas of dentistry focusing on orthodontics Mark provides the dental community with continuing education courses on customer service and preventative orthodontics in an attempt to provide patients with the best treatments and service we possibly can.

Dr. Manfred Freidman Dr. Friedman graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1971. He then returned as a faculty member to direct the Endodontics program from 1979- 1987.

Dr. Friedman became a faculty member at the University of Western Ontario in 1987 and has been the director of the Endodontic undergraduate program since 1998.

As a lecturer, Dr. Friedman has lectured extensively at many local, provincial, national and international programs. In addition, he also maintains a private practice in London, Ontario.

Dr. Vinay Bhide Dr. Vinay Bhide is a board certified Periodontist who provides the full scope of surgical periodontal and dental implant therapy. In addition to the conventional periodontal procedures such as pocket reduction and crown lengthening, Dr. Bhide has a special interest in esthetic and reconstructive periodontics; procedures involved include soft tissue grafting for correction of gingival recession, periodontal regeneration, and pre-prosthetic site development including alveolar ridge augmentation, maxillary sinus floor augmentation (both direct and indirect), and guided bone regeneration (GBR).

Dr. Bhide earned this DDS from the University of Toronto in 2001, and subsequently completed a one year internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He completed his Master of Science and specialty training in Perodontology at the University of Toronto in 2005. Cours e Details : Peri-implantitis – Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention Strategies With dental implants, complications such as peri-implantitis have also been reported with higher incidence. What is a clinician to do when faced with the challenge of diagnosing and treating peri-implant mucosal inflammation and bone loss? This presentation will review the current concepts on the diagnosis of peri-implantitis and various treatment strategies Emphasis will be placed on the prevention of peri-implantitis and proper maintenance protocols for implant patients.
