Mr. John ThomasMr. John Thomas is a senior management executive with more than 23 years of compre-hensive experience with top environmental consulting and full service engineering multinational corporations, apex chambers of commerce and industry, and Government institutions.

Sanjay NirgudkarISC’s new Trainer and Curriculum Design Specialist, Mr. Sanjay Nirgudkar, has 40 years of experience working on EHS topics in a number of industries in both manufacturing facility settings and as a consultant and trainer. He has expertise in risk assessment, facilitation, and curriculum design.

Maj. General Dr. Vijay Tilak (Retd.) (M.B.B.S.)Maj. Gen. Dr. Vijay Tilak (M.B.B.S) has had a distinguished military service background with extensive medical experience. He holds diplomas in both Public Health and Industrial Health, and a Doctor of Medicine with a focus on Preventive and Social Medicine. Previously, Dr. Tilak served as Dean of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, India.

Dr. Prakash RaoDr. Prakash Rao is a Professor and Head of the Department of Energy and Environment at the Symbiosis Institute of International Business in Pune, India. He is an expert in such fields as climate change, energy policy, water/energy nexus, and urbanization.

Mr. Suneel JoshiMr. Suneel Joshi is the Divisional Manager for EHS at a large company that executes infrastructure projects and specializes in engineered pumps, industrial pumps, agriculture and domestic pumps, valves, motors and hydro turbines for water supply, power plants, and irrigation projects.

Dr. Yogesh PatilDr. Yogesh Patil is the Head of Research and Publication at the Symbiosis International University in Pune, India. He is an expert in waste management, sustainability, climate change, industrial ecology, and water/energy nexus.

Dr. Sunita PurushottamDr. Sunita Purushottam is a sustainability professional with more than 15 years of experi-ence in in several sectors, including oil and gas, utilities, energy, metals, and waste. She holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering. She is an expert in air pollution, climate change adaptation and risk, stakeholder engagement, carbon accounting, sustain-ability reporting, waste management, and sustainable water management.

Job Safety AnalysisThis 1-day course provides an overview of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as a key method for assessing occupa-tional exposure and physical safety risks of a job. Hazards Identification & Risk Assessment (Tools, Techniques and Analysis)This 1-day course introduces methods for identifying hazards, assessing hazards and risks, and imple-menting controls. Industrial Regulatory ComplianceThis 1-day course offers an introduction to the environmental and occupational health & safety (OHS) laws and regulations governing Indian industries and their significance. Fire SafetyThis 1-day course introduces the concept of Fire Safety. It explains the three elements of combustion, different types of fires, precautionary measures, how to respond to a fire emergency, use of life-saving equipment, and different rescue mechanisms and improvisations. The course also discusses the laws and regulations pertaining to fire safety in a factory and presents case studies involving fire accidents to help participants understand the causes of fire. It also explains how to conduct a factory risk assessment, identify fire hazards, and employ fire extinguishing mechanisms.


Electrical SafetyThis 1-day course will strengthen participants’ ability to identify electrical-related hazards and risks, help participants to master electrical safety technology and management approaches, and teach participants how to establish or improve electrical safety management systems within factories.


Hazardous Chemical Management This 1-day course helps participants understand the characteristics of hazardous chemicals, how to properly store and handle hazardous chemicals in the factory, and how to establish a hazardous chemical management system.


Machine SafetyThis 1-day course offers an introduction to the concept of machine safety. It provides an overview of machinery safety standards, and explores in-depth how to manage machine safety in a factory, how to perform a machinery safety risk assessment, and how to minimize risk. It also provides an overview of the common machinery safeguards.


Material HandlingThis 1-day course discusses common accidents and key aspects of fork lift and crane safety, helping participants to master safe operating behavior and safety management methods. The course also discusses efficient manual handling and storage of materials. This course begins with a discussion of regulatory requirements related to special equipment, and presents case studies of common fork lift and crane incidents.


Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) This half-day course helps participants increase their ability to identify hazardous energy sources within a factory, understand isolation and control methods for hazardous energy sources, master LOTO implementa-tion steps, and understand how to establish or improve factory LOTO management systems.


Occupational Health & HygieneThis 1-day course introduces key occupational hazards and exposure pathways relevant to Indian manufacturers and key industrial hygiene concepts and methods for evaluating a company’s industrial hygiene performance. It informs participants how to monitor occupational health hazards and adopt effective and appropriate control measures. It builds participants’ skills in identifying and evaluating industrial hygiene issues, and lays the groundwork for more advanced coursework focused on designing and implementing industrial hygiene management systems.


ErgonomicsThis 1-day course introduces participants to the main principles of ergonomics, and uses relevant case studies, to help them identify potential ergonomic hazards and master basic ergonomic risk control methods.

Personal Protective EquipmentThis 1-day course introduces participants to the key concepts of personal protective equipment (PPE) and develops their capacity to establish PPE management systems within factories. Participants will learn how to appropriately select, use and maintain PPE based on the risks presented by a specific site, and will be able to identify the importance and limitations of PPE.


EHS Emergency Preparedness and ResponseThis 1-day course introduces participants to emergency preparedness and response mechanisms that will enable them to apply the most efficient and accurate methods to manage incidents, reduce casualties and damage, and execute rehabilitation measures. After completing this course, participants will understand the basic requirements for emergency management and the different types of emergency planning. They will learn to prepare, review and revise emergency plans; organize and implement emergency drills; and recommend ways their factories can better identify potential hazards.


CAPSTONE LEVEL

EHS Leadership This half-day course provides EHS staff with an introduction to tools and techniques for influencing others and helping others to more effectively promote EHS measures. The course includes how to obtain others’ commitment, assert influence, report achievements, communicate, speak publicly, etc.


Behavior Based SafetyThis 1-day course focuses on psychological behavior models and combines case analysis and role playing to help participants understand the theory behind behavior-based safety and identify key elements of BBS implementation.

Environmental Aspects Identification & EvaluationThis 1-day course helps participants identify, understand and evaluate aspects of an organization’s activities, products and services that impact the environment directly and indirectly. The course includes an introduction to key evaluation measures for major environmental aspects, including life cycle analysis and multiple factor scoring. This course is a necessary foundation for other environmental management courses.

Industrial Waste ManagementThis 1-day course provides an overview of management techniques for various types of industrial waste, as well as State and Central Pollution Board regulations for waste management. The course also explores environmentally sustainable technologies for waste management as well as the business profitability, legal framework, and the economic feasibility pertaining to each.


Air Pollution Management This 1-day course increases participants’ awareness of the different types of air pollutants and their associated hazards, and introduces participants to air pollution control technologies and management methods. Energy Conservation Value & Overview This half-day course covers the drivers for energy conservation, potential benefits of energy conserva-tion, and approaches to reducing energy use. It also includes a brief introduction to ISO 50001-2011, which specifies the requirements for establishing an energy management system, followed by case studies of successful implementation of ISO 50001-2011.


Energy Saving & EfficiencyThis half-day course helps participants understand the background and trends of the current energy situation, requirements of key energy reduction related laws and regulations, and relevant energy efficiency technolo-gies. In addition, participants will learn how to identify potential energy saving opportunities within factories and how to establish energy management systems.

Energy Conservation for Electric MotorsThis half-day course covers the basics of electric motors, such as the key components, operating principles, and associated energy losses. It includes an introduction to available approaches to improving motor energy efficiency, with detailed examples provided for each discussed approach. It also covers the methods used to assess the energy efficiency of electric motors.


Energy Conservation for Compressed Air SystemThis half-day course covers the basic knowledge of compressed air systems such as key components and operating principles. It includes an introduction of the available approaches to reduce energy waste and losses in compressed air systems. Detailed examples are given for each of the energy savings approaches that are discussed. It also covers the techniques that are used to assess energy efficiency for compressed air systems.


Energy Conservation for Illumination/ Lighting Systems This half-day course covers the basic knowledge behind lighting. It includes an introduction to the available approaches to improving energy efficiency of lighting. Detailed examples are given for each of the energy saving approaches that are discussed. It also covers the techniques that are used to assess energy efficiency for lighting systems.


Energy conservation for electrical power systems (0.5 day)This half-day course covers the basics of the electric power system, such as its key components and their functions and/or operating principles. It provides an introduction to the various available approaches to reducing energy loss, with detailed examples provided for each discussed approach. It also covers the techniques used to assess energy efficiency for this system.

It also aims to give participants an in depth understanding of ISO 50001 energy management system standard requirements and help participants to be able to systematically identify and understand factors that influence energy performance, establish necessary control procedures, and promote within a factory the knowledge and skills required to maintain an energy management system.


GHG Accounting & Reporting (1 day)This 1-day course offers basic concepts of managing GHG for Corporates and their value chain and aims at providing standards and guidance for companies preparing a GHG emissions inventory. It would provide a background on issues related to energy and GHG, and examines developments in these fields. CAPSTONE LEVEL

Best Management Practice for Improving Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation in IndustriesThis 1-day course covers the key elements of a structured energy management approach. It features well-de-signed group discussions and exercises focused on identification of significant energy uses, operation control, energy measurement and targeting, as well as continual improvement. Other topics include the need for energy management, government regulations on energy conservation, and key terms and definitions for effective energy management. Participants are required to bring a laptop for hands-on data analysis exercises.
