Wnhereas,readingto a young child is one of the most importantthingsparentscan do to enhanceachild’searlybraindevelopment;and

Whereas,Tennesseeis hometo morethan375,000children underagefive with morethan 8,500being

in Sullivan County; and

Whereas, everyone ofthosechildrennowhasaccessto the ImaginationLibrary; and

Whereas,theSullivan County Imagination Library was establishedin 2004 as a partnershipwith the,Dollywood Foundation, Governor’s Book from Birth Foundation, Sullivan County Commission,communityleadersandvolunteers;and

Whereas, the Sullivan County Imagination Library was created to be a free gift given by thecommunityto all children — servingasan educationalcommondenominator;and

Whereas,theSullivan County ImaginationLibrary hasdeliveredover 400,000booksto the homesof16,482 childrenandcunentlyhasalmost5,000childrenundertheageoffive on theprogram;and

Whereas,the establishmentof the Sullivan County ImaginationLibrary hasprovidedthe countyanopportunityto fundraise,registerchildren,andincreaselocal awarenessof this effectiveprogram;and

WHEREAS the Sullivan County Sheriffs Office has receiveda 1993 anda 1995 Dodge 3500Van donatedFrom Surnmitt Roofing to he Ltsed by the Dayworker Programand otherareasof theSheriffs office as needed;and

W1-IILREAS The Sheriffs office is requestingthat theseVans be addedto the list of assetsforthe Sullivan County Sheriffs Office and covered by the county insuranceplan; and,.

WHEREj-\S the titles to the vehicles will he turned over to the Purchasingdepartmentuponacceptanceof donation andpurchaseof tags.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners ofSullivan County, Tennessee,assembledin Regular Sessionhereby accept the donation ofthe 1993and 1995Dodge3500Vans and be added to Sheriff’s Office list of assets.
