In 1937, at the suggestion of renowned
golfer Bobby Jones, the inaugural Senior PGA
Championship was played at Augusta National
Golf Club, just three years after the fi rst Masters
Tournament was held. Today the Senior PGA
Championship is the most historic and prestigious
major championship in senior golf.
By hosting the 69th Senior PGA Championship,
Oak Hill will become the only golf course to hold
the six major men’s rotating championships of

In 2008, the Senior PGA Championship will
welcome back several members of the dramatic
1995 Ryder Cup. Eligible players from the
American team: Jay Haas, Ben Crenshaw, Loren
Roberts, Peter Jacobsen, Curtis Strange and
Captain Lanny Wadkins.
Many of golf’s greatest players will be tested by
the Donald Ross-designed East Course. Players
scheduled to appear include Fuzzy Zoeller, Tom
Watson, Craig Stadler, Hale Irwin and Jay Haas.
Rookies Jeff Sluman, Hal Sutton, Bernhard Langer
and hometown favorite Joey Sindelar are among
the players who will be eligible to compete.
