General Information

Eligibility All currently enrolled University of Louisville students are eligible to use the services of the Counseling Center.

Cost Individual counseling, group counseling, consultation and referral services are provided to currently enrolled students at no charge.

Confidentiality All communication within the Counseling Center is confidential. Information regarding the content of interviews or the results of testing can only be released with the written permission of the client. The exceptions to this policy are:

• When the information relates to clear and imminent danger to an individual.

• When state law requires the reporting of information (threats of violence, child abuse or neglect).

• When information is requested by court order.

Any disclosure in these situations will be made to the appropriate authority and will be limited to material directly pertinent to the issue involved.

Special Services

Veterans

Members of the Counseling Center Staff understand the issues related to transition and deployment. If the staff can not meet your needs, you will be referred to the appropriate services.

Learning Disability and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Assessments

Do you need documentation for classroom accommodations or accommodations on national exams? Currently enrolled University of Louisville students can be tested for LD or ADHD for a reasonable fee. Call 852-6585 to schedule an assessment.

Mission

The Counseling Center supports the academic mission of the University of Louisville by providing quality mental health services and programs to assist students in achieving their personal and educational goals. We also contribute to the broader mission of the University by providing training for new mental health professionals.

The Counseling Center operates on a short-term therapy model. The number of visits is determined on an individual basis, but is not unlimited.

Counseling Services

The Counseling Center offers professional mental health and consultation services to all currently enrolled University of Louisville students at no cost. Services include:
