What is ETP?
• A project awarded (August 2012) by the EC to the CCBE to develop an IT platform to provide EU-wide information about lawyers’ training courses
• It arose from a lack of easy accessibility to information about training courses for lawyers
• ETP started on 1 February 2013 and will last for two years

How ETP will work
• ETP is a platform supported by two possible IT solutions (to be decided):
- Web-portal: Training providers (TPs) upload the information in a template to the system, which registers it
- Mash-up: the ETP goes directly to TPs’ websites and extracts the information
from there, using web-services.

For TPs to be recognised for the purpose of ETP, at least 3 of these 6 criteria are necessary at the same time:
1. The TP is recognised in the Member State and by member Bars as an authorised training provider
2. The main purpose of the TP is to train lawyers and/or lawyers and other legal professionals.
3. In principle, the training provided by the TP is open to all lawyers (i.e. not only to members of a specific Member State, organisation or other closed group).
4. The TP offers a good selection of courses on different practice areas of law, including EU and comparative law.
5. The TP offers training during the whole year (i.e. it is a permanent training institution).
6. The TP is well-known, and information about the courses it offers reaches a large number of lawyers (i.e. the TPs publish information about their training courses on their websites, in law magazines etc.).
