This day is set aside to give thanks for the many blessings that we have in this country. While we reflect on this annual holiday spent with our families and loved ones, we thank the Lord our Savior for all that He has done for us. The Bible certainly has much instruction regarding being thankful. The apostle Paul instructed the Thessalonians that “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Paul knew that as believers these Thessalonians could thank God in all things, because regardless of what they were going through, they could “know that all things work together for good to those that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) We should always “give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 118:1) Here at Calvary Chapel Academy, we have so much to be thankful for; 127 fearfully and wonderfully made students, a wonderful, dedicated staff, Christian parents and grandparents seeking to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and most importantly, our freedom to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All of us here at Calvary Chapel Academy wish you and your families a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. Changes have occurred over the years, but the care and consideration the staff has for all the students, as well as the school’s unwavering focus on developing strong spiritual and academic foundations, have remained. I am privileged to teach and influence these students, and my goal is to cultivate a lifelong love of learning that will enable them to be productive citizens in the future.” Ms. Burke loves reading, especially classics, poetry, and historical fiction. She loves to sing, play the guitar and Iead worship at Calvary Chapel of Boston. She is also a huge fan of thrifting, the outdoors, puns and dogs! HIGH SCHOOL DANCE Hosted by CCA’s Student Government The CCA Student Government hosted a dance on Friday night, November 15th, for grades 9th through 12th at the Nathaniel Thomas Mill in Hanson. In preparation for the dance, Mrs. Hanlon, Ms. Burke and Mr. Roaf worked very hard gathering décor (bales of hay, bandanas, boots and hats) to create a country harvest theme. Student Government worked alongside faculty decorating and setting up the venue. Flanked by Mr. Bartolo and Mr. Roaf, CCA’s Mr. Hanley provided the setup and the music for the evening. Highlighting the event, dressed as Hawaiian cowboys, were five of CCA’s talented young men, who wrote and performed their own Christian rap songs. Also, led by a line dance instructor, students were taught two line dances, stepping to “Greater” by MercyMe and “The River” by Jordan Feliz. Adding to the fun was a donut-eating contest, and although there weren’t any clear winners, many laughs were had by all. In addition, there was a “Guess the Number of Candy Corn Contest”, and the honors went to senior, Jediel Gonzalez. The unanimous response from the students is “The dance was so much fun!”

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON Since CCA’s inception in 2004, it is Mr. Colello’s desire to bless students and faculty with a homemade Thanksgiving luncheon. On Thursday, November 21st, exactly one week before the official Thanksgiving holiday, the entire CCA student body and staff all sat down together in prayer of thanks to our Lord for a Thanksgiving feast organized by Mr. and Mrs. Colello, prepared by staff and served by students. CCA staff cooked over 125 lbs. of turkey. Mrs. Landry’s Home-Economics class peeled and cut 40 lbs. of potatoes. Mr. Colello cooked the potatoes and prepared his renowned homemade gravy. Mrs. Borgen mashed the potatoes and Mr. Nordin carved the turkeys. The meal was then completed with 8 lbs. of stuffing, 20 lbs. of corn, 12 lbs. of cranberry sauce and 12 dozen rolls! A new tradition was implemented with Mr. Hanlon asking the Senior Class, “What one thing at CCA are you most thankful for?” Jack Landry volunteered and shared the following. “This school is really, really close here. It’s just really easy to connect with everyone and the teachers. There is a kindness and a warmth here. It’s just awesome! It’s beautiful and you can really feel Christ.” In addition, faculty and parents blessed us all with their wonderful desserts. Following the meal and per tradition, students played flag football. Thank you to all who contributed to this amazing event! “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 5:19-20

SAMARITAN’S PURSE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD 4TH Graders and 6th Graders Supply and Pack Shoe Boxes for Children Overseas and Here in the U.S. Students in Ms. Burke’s 4th grade class and Mrs. Doolan’s 6th grade class participated in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse provides aid, both physical and spiritual, to disadvantaged people worldwide. “After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.” This is the mission of Samaritan's Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.” (Samaritan’s Purse website) With money saved from collecting cans and monetary donations, students in Ms. Burke’s class went on a field trip to the Dollar Store and purchased items for their shoeboxes. Items they carefully chose were colored pencils, notebooks, hair accessories, soap, washcloths, toothbrushes, socks, T-shirts and toys. Mrs. Doolan’s class collected similar items for their shoeboxes. Students were so excited about this project and showed great joy, love and care when preparing these boxes for distribution to those in need. Per the Samaritan Purse organization, “God has used gift-filled Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to bring millions of children and adults to faith in Jesus Christ overseas. He also uses shoeboxes to draw people to Himself here in the U.S.” Seeing our children at CCA serving their Lord and helping those in need is truly a testimony to their walk of faith. “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
