Corsica Tour
France |Corsica Island | Italy |
22 June 2020 – 4 July 2020
Experience Corsica once, and you’ll be hooked…
Corsica’s dramatic mountains, historic villages and beaches truly make it the glittering jewel of the Mediterranean’s crown. One of 18 French regions it is located southeast of the French mainland and west of the Italian Peninsula. It is about 100 miles long and a unique French region with a high mountainous spine falling dramatically to the sea. Naturally, this makes for excellent motorcycling with perfectly spaced seaside villages and quays.
There is no doubt you will enjoy breath-taking scenery and great Corsican style food and wine.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Nice - Eze (France) - 0km
Our tour starts in Eze which is about 15 km outside of Nice on 22 June, and we will collect our bikes from
the rental agent today. Other than the short ride from the rental agent back to our hotel, there will be no
riding today. This allows us to rest, relax and meet the rest of the tour participants before the riding starts
in earnest on the next day.
Today you can take a trip from the hotel to the beautiful hilltop village of Eze, or simply “chill out” in your
room before we all meet up in the hotel later in the afternoon for a sundowner and a chat. Tonight, we
enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Day 2- Nice - Eze (France) to Toulon, (Italy) – 150 km and then Overnight Ferry
We pack our bikes and after a briefing we will hit the road. It is a short distance today allowing you to familiarise yourself with riding on the right-hand side of the road. We leave Nice and ride towards Toulon, our ride taking us through the Gorge of Verdon with a view of Provence and its beautiful lavender fields. Feel free to stop for lunch in the Gorge, somewhere where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery.
After lunch the route will drop down from the Gorge to the coastal Port of Toulon. Here we will load our motorcycles on the ferry at around 19h00 for a 21h00 departure to Bastia. This is an overnight ferry so we can enjoy some food and beverages on board before retiring to our cabins.

Day 3 – Bastia to Calvi – 180 km
After breakfast on the ferry, we disembark at 07h00. We leave the Port of Bastia and head North on the
D80 toward the port of Macinaggio, a good place to stop for coffee and a snack. Our route will take us
over the mountains to the Western peninsula following the twists and turns heading Southwards to Calvi, a
village where the marina overlooks a magnificent bay framed by sun-baked hills.
The view from above the village is beautiful, you might find yourself gazing across the harbour and roofs
and watching the many yachts bobbing up and down in the water below.
After freshening up in the hotel we will walk to the esplanade where dinner will be in one of the many
packed restaurants in the village of Calvi.
.
Day 4 – Calvi to Porto – 130 km
The distance today is short though twisty and allows for many stops and visits to various coastal fishing
villages. The morning’s route will take us out from Calvi with a loop towards Calenzana, where a coffee
stop or a visit to the Eglise Saint-Blaise Cathedral might be on your list of things to do.
We will loop back via Calvi before heading South towards Porto. Our route will take us past many beaches
and holiday villages after which the coast will become more rugged. You will notice the glowing red cliffs,
and wall of granite whilst heading through the Nature Reserve of Girolata. Tonight we will stay in a village
North of Porto so once settled in to the hotel, pay a visit to Porto and the Genovese Tower.

past jagged granite pinnacles towering above the sea.
Further South and we ride the Pass of San-Bastiano – then a coffee stop near Appietto. After our stop we
ride towards Bonifacio, though we will not enter the village but bypass it as we can visit it tomorrow.
Dinner at the hotel in Porto-Vecchio.

Day 6 – Porto Vecchio (Rest Day) – 200 km
Today you can either rest and enjoy the village of Porto Vecchio or take a short ride to Bonifacio for lunch.
There is also an option for the more adventurous to take the ferry from Bonifacio to Sardinia (Italy) and do
a small loop on the island returning for dinner at the hotel in the evening.
Day 7 – Porto Vecchio to Corte – 210 km
Our route takes us from Porto-Vecchio and its beaches today and heads inland to the 900m high Ospedale
(there was a hospital in the area hence the name), where we will take in the breath-taking pine forests,
lakes and waterfalls.
Heading North from there we will ride the col de Bavella, one of the most scenic roads on this
Mediterranean island where rocky spikes of red granite that dominate the hill, known as The Aiguilles de
Bavella, can be seen all around us. The road provides an incredibly scenic and dramatic drive.
We leave the mountain and ride back to the coastal beaches of Salenzara, where a stop for lunch and
refreshments is a good call.
After our lunch stop, we head towards Corte through the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, then onto our
hotel for the next two nights. Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant only a 500m walk.

Day 8 - Rest Day or Outride – 185 km
Today is a rest day or an outride for those who want to ride. The outride will take you up and over the
mountains in the National park in a clockwise direction taking about 4 hours to complete. The road will be
mostly in the forest and fairly narrow.
The loop will take you back to the hotel where you can then relax for the afternoon, go for a walk in the
forest and swim in the river.
For those that are not riding today, an excursion can be arranged to Calacuccia on the mountain range
Cinto (2708 Mt.), the highest summit of the island, which has magnificent panoramas of the lake.
Day 9 - Corte to Bastia – 175 km
Today we leave the village of Corte and ride North of Bastia where we will stay for the night.
Our route will take us through some twisty and narrow roads and then to the East Coast peninsula and
tranquil Étang de Biguglia. In Etang de Biguglia you can stop and try some of the delicious mussels that are
served together with oysters and clams cultivated in shellfish ponds.
After our mussel pot (moule à moules) we head towards Bastia via San Martina de Lota, which feels like it
hovers above the sea, looking out towards the Tuscan islands of Elba and Pianosa. Here a stop to take in
the view is a must, after which the route takes you to the coast and on to our hotel.
The ferry from Bastia to Livorno tomorrow (Italy – Mainland) is only in the afternoon, so this gives us time
to explore the port of Bastia tomorrow morning.
