General Information
Course DescriptionCoronary Artery Disease: Prevention, Detection & Treatment is designed to provide practicing physicians and healthcare staff with an in-depth overview of the entire spectrum of coronary artery disease. Novel risk factors, state-of-the-art imaging technologies, and new management strategies for patients with acute coronary artery disease will be highlighted. The evolving role of revascularization, interventional cardiology, coronary surgery, and options for the management of advanced non-revascularizable coronary artery disease will be discussed. Population trends and future directions in new scientific breakthroughs such as cell therapy for patients with coronary artery disease will be reviewed.
Course Learning ObjectivesUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Distinguishlifestyleinterventionsthatimprovecardiovascularhealthandunderstand
the effects of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome;• Describethelatestdiagnosticandmanagementstrategiesfortheacutecoronary
syndromes;• Incorporatetheuseofnewerimagingmodalitiesinthedetectionandtreatmentof
complications of myocardial ischemia;• Determinetherisksandbenefitsofscreeningearlydetectionandpreventionin
coronary artery disease; and• Recognizethelatestdiagnosticandmanagementstrategiesforacuteischemicevents
and the latest information on newer platelets and thrombin inhibitors.

Intended AudienceThe course would be of interest for cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and internists as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners who see patients with coronary artery disease.
