The Adirondack 102 Club: Your Passport & Guide to all the North Country Towns & Vil-lages On Monday November 3 at 7pm join author and historian, MartyPodskoch, for a talk about his latest project, the Adirondack 102Club, that will encourage people to visit all 102 towns and vil-lages in the Adirondacks. The program will be held at theCorinth Free Library and is open to the public. The idea for the 102 Club began after Podskoch read about Dr.Arthur Peach of Vermont who in 1954 suggested the idea of aninformal group, the Vermont 251 Club, to veer off the beatenpath “to discover the secret and lovely places that main roadsdo not reveal.” Podskoch believed the Adirondacks would ben-efit from a similar club. He has traveled extensively in theAdirondacks gathering material for his five books on the Adiron-dack fire towers, the Civilian Conservation Corps camps, andAdirondack lore, and will share the joys of fully experiencing theAdirondacks and getting to know its local people and places. Marty had local writers describe their town & villageʼs location, history, and important points of interests. Marty Podskoch feltthe local residents knew their town a lot better than he.After the presentation, Podskoch along with some of the con-tributing authors will sign copies of the new book, Adirondack102 Club: Your Passport & Guide to the North Country,

THE FAMILY OF WILLARD ROY FLANSBURGWe would like to apologize for our thank you being late.
This has been a very rough time for us, and still is. Will and I hadone of those one-of-a-kind loves, the kind you only find once inyour lifetime. Our daughter Brandi had that special father/daugh-ter bond. We would like to thank all of our family and friends forbeing there for us through it all. Thank you for the wonderfulprayers, thoughts, and all the acts of kindness. Will and I talkedabout this before his passing. Will told me he would never forgetall the kindness and love we received from everyone. Remember,it is all about love. Love every second you have with your lovedones and friends. Someday all that will get you through will beGod, your memories, and the love you felt from family andfriends. Will was a very special man. I know from Heaven he issaying a very special thank you and a special prayer for you all.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts,Cindy Flansburg, Brandi Boller, Jim R. Boller, Logan and Jacob

Millennial Mortgage Myths Debunked: A New Light On Homeownership(NAPSI)—The American Dream may have looked like more of a nightmare tothe millions of millennials who entered the workforce in recent years—but therecould be good news. This generation, born between 1981 & the early 2000s, has a desire to pursuepassion over traditional expectations. Dreams of white picket fences have beenreplaced by a strong desire to invest in the future. This shift, however, meansmany millennials pay rent instead of a mortgage.“Millennials have been swayed to believe that homeownership means a finan-cial burden and stress,” said mortgage lender Joel Gurman. “The reality is ourcurrent housing market, paired with the financial opportunities made possibleby generationally low interest rates, have opened up homeownership to manypeople and have actually proven renting to be an expensive and unnecessaryburden.”Here are five mortgage myths and actualities for millennials:1. Buying a home is more expensive than renting: Unlike rent money, a mort-gage payment goes toward ownership. Home prices have stabilized recentlyand rates remain near record lows, making payments quite affordable whilegaining valuable equity.2. I need a larger payment: Millennials often assume their limited years’ worthof savings won’t equal a large enough down payment on a home. The reality is,with standard Fannie Mae- and Freddie Mac-insured loans, a down payment aslow as 5 percent is enough, while FHA-insured loans only require 3.5 percent.3. My credit score is too low: With the stresses of credit card debt and studentloans, millennials often struggle to maintain a desirable credit score. Fortunately, several programs, including the FHA mortgage, offer favorable credit scoreminimums.4. The process is complicated and confusing: With their busy lives, millennialsoften assume the process of buying a home is too burdensome. Mortgagelenders today are making it as seamless as possible through technology, acces-sibility and mobile apps such as MyQL by Quicken Loans, the nation’s secondlargest retail mortgage lender, which allows clients to upload supporting docu-ments and check the status of their loan online, anytime.5. Homeowners must take on a 30-year payment: Thirty years can seem over-whelming for the millennial with a lifestyle fueled by the ability to be free. Inreality, many lenders offer terms ranging from eight to 30 years, for as muchflexibility as desired.Of the positive outlook for millennials, Gurman adds, “The future of our hous-ing economy looks bright for millennials looking to re-evaluate their current fi-nancial hopes and dreams.”

GET YOUR CAR READY FOR WINTER ROADS
(NAPSI)—There are a few things you need to do to keep yourself and your precious cargo—kids, friends, pets—safe on snow, ice, slush, black ice and wet roads. Safety on the roadis important all year-round, but winter weather calls for extra caution behind the wheel.Thatʼs why many auto safety experts urge motorists to keep road safety at the top of theirchecklists this winter and switch to tires specifically designed for cold weather driving.
“Every aspect of a winter tire has been engineered to provide the best performance in winterconditions and temperature fluctuations while maintaining traction on any surface,” saidMark Marrufo of Discount Tire. “Keeping your family safe in every aspect of life is your pri-ority. It is our priority to keep you, your family and your passengers safe while on the road.”
At 45 degrees, vehicles often lose their ability to brake and turn well because of the rubbercompound found in all-season tires. That compound begins to gradually harden when tempsdip below 45 degrees, meaning decreased road traction and less grip. Whatʼs more, snowand ice often pile up in the tire grooves on all-season tires.
Winter tires, on the other hand, are made with higher-silica compounds. This allows the tireto deliver much better traction, which reduces skidding and improves braking. In fact, intemperatures below 45 degrees, winter tires can provide 25 to 50 percent more tractionthan all-season tires. Two new tires for this winter that use this technology are the Bridge-stone WS80 and Michelin X-Ice Xi3. In addition, specialized tread design, which includesthousands of very small slits—called sipes—provides extra road-biting edges for improvedwinter traction.
Five Tips For Winter Road Safety:1. Replace your all-season tires with winter tires for driving in temperatures of 45 degreesor below. Make sure to replace all four tires to avoid an unsafe traction mismatch.2. Donʼt forget the wheels when switching to winter tires. Having a set of wheels specificallyfor your set of winter tires will save money in the long run.3. Check tire pressure regularly and donʼt forget the spare. Underinflated or overinflatedtires may result in poor handling, uneven tread wear and poor fuel consumption.4. Rotate your tires at least every 5,000 miles or earlier if irregular or uneven wear devel-ops.5. Make sure the tire shop that gets your tires ready for cold temperatures properly torquesthe lug nuts to the specifications for your vehicle. If youʼre not sure if you need winter tires, you can get a free safety inspection at any Dis-count Tire location. For more facts about winter tire safety or to find a Discount Tire store, visit www.discounttire.com.
