Step 1: Start the slide show by pressing the slide show button

Shortcuts: [F5] (starts slide show from the beginning), [Shift+F5] (starts slide show from current slide)

Step 2: Click the pen icon at the bottom left of the slide show screen to switch from the arrow to a ballpoint pen, a felt tip pen, or a highlighter.

Step 3: Choose the ink color and begin writing!

Step 4: Save or discard ink marks when you exit the slide show (shortcut: [Esc]).

Basic PowerPoint Ink Functions

The pen icon is hidden until you move the pointer during a slide show.



Learn shortcuts!

Keyboard shortcuts dramatically reduce preparation time and make slide shows much shorter.

For slide show shortcuts, press the help button [F1] during a slide show.



These shortcuts will make your presentation much smoother!

[Ctrl+A] Change to arrow [Ctrl+P] Change to (felt tip) pen [Ctrl+E] Change to eraser [E] Erases all ink marks While in pen mode, press [Esc] to change to an arrow

Recommended Slide Show Shortcuts

[B] or [W] Turns the screen black or white This function allows you to use the PowerPoint screen as a blackboard or whiteboard for dra

wing diagrams, etc. However, must switch to pen mode before pressing [b] or [w], and anything you write will disappear when you exit the blank or white screen. Note: the JustWrite Office software bundled with the Wacom BizTablet will allow you to save a blank slide.

[Ctrl+T] Shows the Windows taskbar You can switch programs without exiting the slide show. To return to the slide show, click on

the taskbar button that says “Powerpoint Slide Show”



Program your pen’s buttons

Ctrl+A is easy to press, but keystrokes with keys that are far apart (like Ctrl+P) can be too difficult, especially when you are nervous.

Instead program these keystokes into your pen using the tablet properties.

Wacom’s BizTablet users have the additional benefit of two additional programmable buttons on the tablet itself. You won’t need to touch the keyboard at all!

Step 1: Open your pen tablet properties by going to the start menu> programs>tablet>tablet properties

Step 2: Click on the menu for one of the buttons, then click on “keystroke”.

Step 3: Type the shortcut key or key combination and click OK. Your button has now been customized!



Usage: Emphasize Key Points!

Emphasize key points by highlighting, circling or underlining words during your presentation.

NOTE: If you are using a dark background, the highlighter may be difficult to see.

For a very strong emphasis, write the word or number on the screen. This leaves a very strong IMPACT on the audience since handwriting looks different and the word stays on the screen while you explain.

NOTE: Writing words takes time and practice. If you pause too long to write, it leaves a distracting, uncomfortable silence in the room, and it destroys the rhythm of your presentation.

DO NOT use too many ink marks. The screen will get “dirty” and marks will lose impact.
