What is an improper fraction?
An improper fraction is afraction where the numerator
is larger than the denominator.

A mixed number is a whole number and a fraction.

When you convert or change an improper fraction to a mixed number or a mixed
number to an improper fraction, the values of each are still the same. Look at how this
improper fraction and mixed number represent the same amount.
