Women I thought I would have a look at how women are portrayed in RnB music videos. It’s interesting to see whether there is

a convention to have women portrayed in a similar way across the music videos. I will be having a look at videos

which have a lead female singer and see the way they are presented, such as what they are wearing, the kind of

shots involved, and the impression it gives off.

In a lot of the videos the women have hardly any clothes on. This is most likely done on purpose to be

able to attract people if there is a good song and minimal clothing then it is likely to grab a lot of

attention. The Make Up these women apply in the videos are very bold and eye catching. You would

hardly catch anyone with less make up and any effort. Their hair tends to be either lose and then

dramatically fanned or it’s done in a stylish way to bring out the make up and compliment it. Sometimes

accessorize such as jewellery can be used and it’s often dramatic again to, too compliment the look.

This music video is a song of icon singer Cia. This song is called Promise and you can see

how they has been an empathy in particular to her body figure and jewellery and clothing. In

addition her make up is also a highlight to note.

Men I thought I would have a look at how men are

portrayed in RnB music videos. It’s interesting to see whether there is a convention as to how men are presented in these videos. I will be

having a look at videos which have men as the lead singer to see what kind of an impression

they give off.

In a lot of videos they have topless men. This is most obviously to attract young girls to watch their videos

and continue to pass it on among their friends. Young girls would be their target audience. As well

as being topless they would wear some sort of trouser, so jeans or nice trousers and would most

likely be showing off their boxers. This would once again attract women and young girls and have

popularity on their videos. In addition men in RnB videos often have a beautiful implicit woman in

their clips to enhance their imagine.

These RnB rappers have followed the common convention seen amongst men in this genre. They are

topless and have a beautiful young woman who is also stripped down too.
