The Goal for 2011 onward; 6th generation Drill ships ready for operations in Brazil

Page 4: Construction Presentation Slideshow

The Goal only a few hundred years ago a 6th Generation Sail Ship to reach Brazil

Page 5: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Differences then and now:

• Same Goals

• Different technology

• Different dreams

• Different needs

Page 6: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Then it started out with Manual Labor

Page 7: Construction Presentation Slideshow

And more manual labor to build ships

Page 8: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Early 20th century the Mass Production

Page 9: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Only since the last 30 years: Little Manual Labor / Fully Automated cutting Machines.

YARD overall construction facilities for pre outfitting and piping spools

• YARD will use over 70 different vendors and subcontractors to assist with the production and fabrication of spools and outfitting materials:

• The biggest contributors (and mostly mentioned in the office)

• HARVARD, DEOK SU, TAECHANG, GANA, SAM NOK.

• KANG RIM, SUNG IL, SAM KUN, SHIN WOO, SUNG WANG

INSPECTIONS as there are thousands of inspections these are being catagorized

• YARD Witness Inspections; Owner and Class are invited for the inspection.

• YARD Monitor Inspection; YARD will perform the inspection Owner and Class could witness

• OWNER Patrol Inspection: Owner will inform YARD that a visit will take to a fabrication shop and a random inspection will take place

Page 24: Construction Presentation Slideshow

DOCUMENTATION for INSPECTIONS

• YARD Witness Inspection Sheet: To receive at each witness inspection for owner, YARD and Class

• OFR sheet: Owner performs a patrol inspection and finds a discrepancy. Owner will issue to YARD

• YARD NCR: A failure occurred, YARD will issue a NCR

• OWNER NCR: In case an OFR will not be resolved within a certain time Owner will change to a NCR

• Class discrepancy: Class will issue to YARD

• In any case of failure or rejection these items will become “punch items”

Page 25: Construction Presentation Slideshow

WEB SITES for inspections planning & tracking of results and punchitems

• YARD has 2 websites available to track the inspections and the punch items

• PCS: This website is for all inspections on and off site, excluding paint inspections; Also for the Punch items.

• E-QISS: This website is for all inspections on and offsite, including paint inspections AND the NDE reports.

Daily Activities and Inspection reviews in the site office, with Korean Inspectors

Page 27: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Present status in site office

• Every morning: we review the websites to review the inspection planning and locations

• Every Morning: we have a pre inspection meeting with all inspectors to review the daily schedule

• Every end of the day: we have a short summary on inspections; failures and owner findings

• Every Friday afternoon: we have an evaluation QA/QC meeting with YARD, Owner and Class on the results and the next week look ahead

Page 28: Construction Presentation Slideshow

Present Status for Site Inspection Team

• For construction Owner has hired and will further hire local inspectors specialized in construction for drill ships in various disciplines.

• Additionally part of the Engineering team will slowly grow into the construction and mechanical completion of the construction phase.

• Following Mayor Disciplines:

• HSE (safety first!)• Hull, Structure & Welding • Piping & Mechanical & Installation• Painting & Coating• Later: Outfitting, Electrical, Marine, Drilling, Subsea.

• All the inspectors will be lead by the construction and QA/QC department and for each discipline the leader will get involved in the failures, corrections, improvements and changes.
