2 NATIONAL SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS & TEXAS SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS
By proclamation of the mayor, it is Professional Engineer Week here in Dallas! On behalf of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, we welcome you to the 2016 Professional Engineers Conference.
This year’s theme is “Innovate. Lead. Change the World.” You will find this theme woven into the two days of continuing education offered during the conference. The conference kicks off on June 22 with the TSPE Annual Membership Meeting and A BIG Texas Welcome Reception that evening.
Attend the opening session on June 23 with Dr. Nancy Currie-Gregg, an engineer and former NASA astronaut who has accrued 1,000 hours in space. On June 24, take part in a hype-free discussion on the deployment of autonomous vehicles by Baruch Feigenbaum, assistant director of transportation policy at the Reason Foundation. The conference closes with a presentation by professional engineer heroes who are changing the world. Between these sessions you will find many other education sessions on ways professional engineers are innovating and leading in their practice. Check out the conference mobile app to get more information on each session and build your own meeting itinerary. And finally, on June 25, the House of Delegates convenes to consider the future of professional engineering and discuss proposed policy recommendations before we leave the great city of Dallas.
Enjoy the 2016 Professional Engineers Conference, and be sure to thank our Conference Planning Task Force members listed on page seven for planning such an outstanding event!
