Burt Cattle Company - 2016 Bulls For SaleYou may be reading this with disbelief that there are Black Charolais cattle out there. We shared your skepticism many years ago. We were looking for the growth that the Charolais breed could offer, but did not want to get docked in the sale ring. We thought to ourselves wouldn’t it be ideal if we could just get a black hide on these great cattle.

With many inquiries throughout the country we found someone who had been able to get Black Charolais out of Dark Red Charolais cattle. Through many generations they were ableto get double black genes on the Sire and Dam side. Our first Black Charolais bull was 907 Black Eagle. He is still on the ranch and sires a select set of dams every year.

The first year we had him we put him on Angus-Cross dams and we knew right away that Black Charolais Bulls were the answer. His calves at weaning time were almost 100lbs heavier and had a much larger frame to put on the additional weight.

We have since added 5 additional blood lines and can offer great diversity.

Down Town is a bull which will put some height and length on your calves. He shows great muscle depth, and handles the heat extremely well. He always has great breed back rates, and has great disposition. His calves show all the great traits that he displays, and we have kept back 2 of his bull calves the last two years because each generation seems to get better. He is double black and you will get black calves on red or black cows. You can see from his picture that his calves have great growth potential.

PostMark is a bull which shows great depth and length. He is one of our thicker herd-sires, but continues to amaze me with his breed back numbers. We continue to put him on40-50 head a year and doesn’t seem to shrink, even in the heat of summer. His calves show great thickness through the front and are always level over the top. His heifers showgreat maternal traits as well.

Boomtown is one of the bulls that has the most height. You can see from the picture he will put some leg on your calves while still being thick. He is also one of the longest bullsI’ve ever seen. He shows great consistency on his calf crops by always throwing low birthweights and his calves hits the ground running. He was put on a nice set of cows thisyear and I wish we would have got more bull calves because I love the way his bull calves grow. He also gave us the lowest BW bull calf this year at 55lbs, while still scor-ing a 7 on Avg. Daily Gain. His name says it all!

When we purchased this bull I was excited due to the fact that it was a complete new bloodline and we could use him on our great Black Eagle and Boomtown cows. We have used him on heifers due to his lower Birthweights. As you can see from the website this bull has developed into a powerhouse. His calves in the pasture always standout and looklike show calves. He always covers a lot of cows and handles the heat well. You won’t catch him wading in the pond in the summer. His disposition is second to none and has muscle to burn. His nickname around the ranch is Big Curly due to his Curly Charolais hair.
