Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editor that is one of the most popular programs for image manipulation. Photo shop can create any effect or style needed in a drawing or painting or layout. It is used widely by graphics professionals for all sorts of tasks including website design and it is developed and published by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

What is Adobe Photoshop?

Founded in 1982 by Charles Geschke and John Warnock. Photoshop was started as a hobby and would grow to become one of the best well-known software applications.

In 1988, the first commercial version of the modern day Photoshop application, called "Image Pro" was released.

Rather than release Photoshop 8.0, Adobe changed gears and released the first Photoshop Creative Suite (CS). The need for a creative suite was necessary because of the growing popularity of the Web, Graphics, and Print applications. Starting with the Photoshop CS in 2003. As of 2013 Photoshop has grown up to CS6.

Some Basic Tools of Photoshop

Pen tool

The pen tool creates precise paths that can be manipulated using user points. The free form pen tool allows the user to draw paths freehand.

Selection

Selection tools are used to select all or any part of a picture to perform cut, copy, edit, or retouching operations.

Cropping

The crop tool can be used to select a particular area of an image and discard the portions outside the chosen section. This tool assists in creating a focus point on an image and excluding unnecessary space.

Slicing

The "slice" tool, like the crop tool, are used in isolating parts of images. The slice tool can be used to divide an image into different sections, and these separate parts can be used later.

Moving

The move tool can be used to drag the parts of image that are selected.

Eraser

The Eraser tool erases content based on the active layer. If the user is on the text layer, then any text across which the tool is dragged will be erased.

Magic Wand

The magic wand tool selects areas based on pixels of similar values. One click will select all neighboring pixels of similar value .

Color replacement tool

The Color Replacement Tool allows you to change the color, while maintaining the highlights and shadows of the original image or of pieces of the image.

Blur Tool

The Blur  Tool unfocussed image areas .
