    This years event highlights the expansive range of areas touched by the

    field of data management and looks at how to practically integrate datapractices across all areas of the business, regardless of size or sector.

    In order to produce an event that meets the needs of data andinformation quality practitioners, Ark Group has researched extensivelywith a range of data experts in data management, data warehousing,business intelligence, customer information and informationmanagement across a range of industries and sectors.

    This years event features a timely look at the role of data in the globalrecovery by the Head of Global Intelligence for The World Bank, PaulOrmonde-James, and benefits from the extensive experience of GuyTozer.

    The featured international practitioner case study by HSBCs Toa Charmadds yet another dimension to the events impressive range of industryspeakers from the public, private and tertiary sectors. The event featuresan exhibitor space showcasing the latest technology and schools ofthought in the data arena. A series of hands-on workshops will be offeredon the final day of the event to look into key issues in greater detail.We are also pleased to be hosting the inagural DQ Asia Pacific Awardsin conjunction with the IAIDQ.     Brian BaileyBrian has held knowledge, information and data management

    roles with Optus, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Gadens Lawyers

    and The Copyright Agency and has worked on numerous

    consulting projects for a range of clients. He holds a Mastersdegree in Information Innovation from RMIT in Melbourne and

    is a committee member of both the NSW KM Forum and the

    Sydney branch of the Institute for Information Management.

    Hanne BreddamHanne Breddam founded the business intelligence

    management consulting company BusinessMinds in Denmark

    in 1997, and BusinessMinds in Australia in 2006. She has

    delivered consulting expertise to many large companies in

    most industries, including financial, telco, logistic, shipping,

    public sector, pharmaceutical, retail, production, energy and

    IT.

    Richard CallaghanRichard is a technology executive with 20 years insurance,

    Analytics Professionals Australia (IAPA) and is on the Board

    Toa CharmToa has over 20 years of management, marketing and consult ing

    industry. Toa actively serves the Hong Kong, China and Asia

    Jessica EndersJessica Enders is Principal of Formulate Information Design,

    an Australian business that provides form design consulting

    services. In 1996 Jessica began her career as a survey

    methodologist and design consultant at the Australian Bureau

    of Statistics. Five years later she transitioned to the private

    sector to work for Colmar Brunton Social Research. Here she

    conducted and provided leadership in the design of market

    research projects for the government and not-for-profit

    sector. Jessica then spent almost two years as an Interaction

    Designer at The Hiser Group, before starting her own business

    in October 2007 and being named Canberra BusinessPoint

    Emerging Entrepreneur for 2009.

    Karen HalliganKaren Halligan leads Frazer Walkers information and

    data quality management practice, providing practical

    and proven advice and solutions for tackling data quality

    issues. Karens experience as a data quality practitioner and

    senior IT manager is based on a successful track record

    of implementing people, process and technology change.

    Karen holds a Masters degree in Information Technology

    Management from the University of Technology Sydney

    and has ITIL Certification in IT Service Management.

    Brett HannathWorking in the IT industry for over 20 years, Brett Hannath

    has held positions ranging from Application Developer for

    the Victorian Department of Human Services to sales andmarketing roles with organisations such as Progress Software

    and Oracle. Over six years were spent with Intel managing the

    team that was responsible for Intels relationship with enterprise

    customers, hardware and software vendors and system

    integrators ensuring the smooth adoption of new technologies

    such as multi-core, virtualisation, 64-bit computing, mobility,

    broadband, RFID and everything to do with the digital home.

    Bretts current role as Asia-Pacific Director of Field Marketing

    for TIBCO Software places him squarely where he likes it

    most: the enterprise software market and the challenges and

    opportunities it brings.

    Dr Stephen KennettDr Kennett is currently Science Team Leader Data Quality

    in the Maritime Platforms Division of the Defence Science

    and Technology Organisation, where he has been employed

    for 27 years. During this time he has undertaken research

    in fields of high power lasers, laser eye protection, fire and

    damage control modeling for ships and submarines. In the

    past six years his work has concentrated on developing tools

    for analysing and collecting quality maintenance data for both

    helicopters and naval vessels.

    Christopher KingChris King has been working in the hospitality industry for

    15 years in various roles. In 2008 Chris was given the task

    of heading up a new division at Accor called InformationServices. This groups role is to support the business to

    make fact-based decisions and is responsible for data and

    information, separated from Information Technology.

    Chris holds a Bachelor of Science, Postgraduate Diploma of

    Commerce and a Masters of Business Administration.

    Brian KordelskiWith 20 plus years of experience delivering data

    integration solutions for leading retail, financial services,

    telecommunications, and healthcare companies, Brian

    Kordelski is an expert in the design and development of

    comprehensive data-centric enterprise integration solutions. In

    past roles as Director of Client Advocacy, Product Management

    Director, Product Marketing Manager, Client Services Director,

    EMEA Technical Sales Lead, Implementation Architect and

    Principal Consultant, Brian has lead project teams responsible

    for data integration initiatives in over 30 countries. Brian is

    presently serving as a Worldwide Sales Executive for the

    InfoSphere portfolio responsible for helping to drive the IBM

    Information Integration business globally.

    Vladas LeonasVladas Leonas moved to Australia in 1991, and worked for nine

    years with Telstra, including four years with R&D organisation

    (heading a section), four years with payphones (as a CIO),

    then another year as a General Manager for the data centreinitiative. Vladas was the founder and the first Chair of the

    Soviet UNIX Users Group, represented it on the Board of

    European Open Systems Group (EurOpen), and represented

    Telstra as a Board Member of the Global Chipcard Alliance.

    Vladas has authored/co-authored over 50 publications. In

    addition, Vladas is Fellow of IEAust, Senior Member of IEEE,

    Member of ACS, MSc in Computer Science and PhD in

    Computer Science.

    Shravan MalkaniA Practice Lead with Analytics8, Shravan is a business

    intelligence thought leader, solutions architect and project

    manager with over 18 years of experience in the finance, telco,

    retail and public service sectors. He helps clients increase

    profits, increase customer loyalty and expand market share

    while enhancing operational efficiency and compliance

    through pervasive role-based reporting, deeper business

    insight, predictive modelling, effective decision making and

    customer-centric transformation. Prior to Analytics8, Shrav

    worked with Oracle, IBM and Citibank.

    Vincent McBurneyVincent McBurney is an Information Management Practice

    Lead, an IBM Information Champion award winner and

    an ITToolbox Superstar level blogger on information

    development technology. For years he has been a consultant

    in the field of data integration, he was Solution Architect fora Telstra Data Warehouse, a data modeller for a University

    Data Warehouse and a development lead for a Defence Data

    Warehouse. He is an evangelist for information governance

    and the MIKE 2.0 Creative Commons methodology for a

    Knowledge Environment and an IBM Information Agenda.

    Paul Ormonde-JamesPaul is currently the Head of Global Intelligence with

    International Finance Corporation, the commercial arm of The

    World Bank. He is responsible for a four year program of cultural

    change and organisational realignment to leverage information

    as a competitive advantage. For over 25 years, Paul has been

    employed by global companies to drive integrated intelligence

    and cultural change for enhanced decision making. He has

    built a number of data warehouse and business intelligence

    solutions over the years, and rectified problems with end to

    end value delivery. The focus has been to enable analysts to

    analyse efficiently and to enhance strategic decision making.

    Bala RasaratnamBala Rasaratnam is a Practice Manager for Data Architecture

    and Management in NAB. She has played a critical role in

    establishment of the Practice in 2008 and has been working

    collaboratively with multiple business and technology teams

    across NAB, in implementing initiatives (Enterprise Data

    Model, Information Management Principles, Data Defect

    Matrix, etc) to uplift the data management capability. She isalso performing the role of Technology Data Steward, actively

    governing Data Change Management through the Data

    Steward Council and Architecture Review forums. She has

    15 years experience at NAB, including 10 years in Enterprise

    Information Management (Global Data Warehouse), and

    is actively involved in the establishment of the Information

    Management Forum, Data Steward Council and Data Analysis

    Competency at NAB.

    Pradeep Ray

    Pradeep Ray is the Director of Asia-Pacific ubiquitousHealthcare research Centre (APuHC) at the School of

    Information Systems, Technology and Management at the

    University of New South Wales, Australia. He has been the

    Co-Leader (since 2004) of ITU-D, a mobile eHealth initiative

    for developing countries (a UN body).

    Pradeep is now the Vice Chair of the eHealth Subcommittee

    at IEEE Communication Society. The President of IEEE

    Communication Society has nominated Pradeep as an

    IEEE global spokesperson on Telemedicine and Healthcare

    Informatics as part of the IEEE International Visibility Initiative

    from 2008.

    Shazia SadiqShazia Sadiq is currently working in the School of Information

    Technology and Electrical Engineering at The University of

    Knowledge Engineering (DKE) research group and is involved

    in teaching and research in databases and information

    systems. Her main research interests are innovative solutions

    for business information systems that span several areas

    including business process management, governance, risk

    and compliance, data quality management, workflow systems,

    and service oriented computing.

    Tatiana Stebakova

    Tatianas main career objective is to improve quality ofhealthcare delivery through informed clinical decisions, based

    on quality information. This path brought her into the area of

    healthcare information systems design and information quality.

    For the past 10 years she was involved in the development

    and implementation of healthcare information systems on

    the national level both in Australia and New Zealand. Tatiana

    is particularly interested in strategic, structured and holistic

    approach to data quality, based on defined data quality

    strategies and frameworks. In her current role as a manager

    of information and quality of the National Unique Healthcare

    Identifier Service, Tatiana is responsible for the designing data

    quality architecture, governance, standards, controls and total

    data quality management.

    Guy TozerGuy is the Founder and Principal Associate with Doriq Ltd

    acting as a senior consultant, author and presenter with over 25

    years experience in IT. He has significant specialist knowledge

    in the areas of enterprise architecture and information/data

    management, reinforced by a wide experience in implementing

    these ideas in large-scale businesses. Guy is a recognised

    thought leader on corporate data and information control

    practices, being one of the first to espouse the need for

    strong metadata-driven backbones to drive IT management

    activities. He has authored books on metadata management

    and information quality, and has presented widely to the

    technical community.
