Loux – Marlafekas has a course of 67 years in the market of soft drinks and its dominant characteristic throughout this course is the absolute respect to the consumer, mainly expressed through the strict selection criteria of the best and most qualitative materials, in order to always generate unique tastes, which are always adapted to the needs of each time.

Loux constitutes the biggest purely Greek company in the sector of soft drinks and juices. While keeping firmly the 3rd place in the Greek market, after the two well-known multinationals, in the category of all flavors we captured the 2nd place with market share of 30%.

Quality at any cost

It all began in 1950, when Panagiotis Marlafekas, founder, established a small business in a relatively restricted area of Pantokratoros street in the historical centre of Patras. That time, in the capital of Achaia 11 businesses of similar size operated. The only way for someone to step forward and compete, was to choose the best materials alongside with great enthusiasm to produce unique recipes. Soon, Loux became the favourite soft drink maker of Patras. Time passed and the course of Loux was met by steady increase in demand. As the company grew and new facilities were added, the criteria was still quality at any cost - the subsequent course of the company proved that to be a wise choice.

In 1967, Panagiotis Marlafekas, enjoying the full support of his wife Ioanna, takes the most critical decision in the history of the Company until today. He chooses the famous region of Kefalovriso, which at that time had not even the minimum infrastructure for whatever industrial activity; there was lack of electricity, as well as lack of a telephone line. However, its subsoil contained a real treasure, its excellent water. Under the maple trees, flow the outstanding waters of Kefalovriso. As you enjoy our products you are consuming one of the natural wonders of Greece!

soft drinks

The firm produces a wide variety of soft drinks from 250ml glass, 330 ml PET, 500 ml PET, 1.500 ml PET and various flavors such as Orangeade, Lemonade, Sour Cherry, Loux Mix (a mixture of three citrus fruits Orange – Lemon – Mandarin), Soda, Traditional Gazoza (carbonated drink), Loux Cola and Tonic, covering all needs of the market. The company owns three trademarks Loux, Loux Mix and Loux Cola. Loux Cola is the first based cola that was produced in Greece.

Natural juices could not be absent from the product proposals of the company. They were introduced in the family during the summer of 2008. The new fresh varieties are available in 4 flavors: orange, peach, apple-orange-carrot, a juice rich in vitamins B, C and E and the unique cocktail of 9 fruits and 7 vitamins extra-9. They are available in different packaging of 1 L and 250 ml and constitute the perfect tonic drink all day long for youngsters and adults.

An innovative new generation of soft drinks is our response to the new consumer trend, but always with an emphasis on added value and enjoyment for the consumer.

Loux Plus ‘n Light

The new drinks contain natural sweeteners, have 0% sugar, 60% fewer calories but more vitamins - content and relate to the whole range of the company's soft drinks. LOUX Plus' n Light are the first refreshments in Greek market that contain only natural sweeteners (fructose, fruit sugars and herbal sweeteners), without added sugar and without any change in unparalleled flavor that characterizes all LOUX products, introducing a substantial reversal in the market of light products. The products have been recently launched and marketed initially in three flavors (orange, lemonade, Loux Cola), and will soon be enriched with more flavors.

LOUX currently has three company owned units, ranging to a total area of 33,000 square meters, of which 7,800 square meters are covered spaces: • the first one is situated in the region of Kefalovriso where the manufacturing process takes

place • the second constitutes the central distribution center and is situated in Saravali Patras and • the 3rd unit is in Egio concerning the vertically integrated production of PET

(polyethylene terephthalate) packaging. Further, in 2008 a new modern logistics center in Athens was added, to meet the ever increasing needs for reducing transportation costs and product delivery time. The Patras unit uses state-of-the-art equipment and follows the most advanced methods of quality control, hygiene and packaging. The group employs 100 FTE employees, most located in Achaia and the remaining in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Our international certificates of Quality Management and Food Safety, awarded from highly credible international certification organizations, guarantee that the company offers refreshments of high quality and safety. Our premium soft drinks are sold worldwide

The constant demand for new niche products is related to consumer preferences for healthier and more diversified offerings. We are well positioned to satisfy consumers seeking 'fresh' or fruit-flavored carbonated drinks attracted by the perceived health and quality. Our premium products leverage the inability of large industry players to do well in this category.

Exports are taking place in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, Sweden, S. Africa, Australia, the United States., Canada, Panama, S. Korea, Taiwan, China, Russia. Moreover, Loux is directed towards United Arab Emirates and Russia – countries where demand for imported products is strong.

Our partners are key to our success

We work closely with our distribution partners globally, to understand their individual needs and develop tailored proposals to their specific markets. Working together with our distributors, we aim to develop long-lasting relationships. Great attention is paid to aligning the related marketing initiatives (advertising, sales promotions, etc.) with new country product placements. We focus on effective trade promotions to ensure favorable impact at points of sale. In Greece, our network is supported by more than 450 representatives, who are provided with all necessary auxiliary equipment for the sale process, such as refrigerators, shelves, as well as with all necessary marketing materials.

Loux - Marlafekas SA, within the framework of its Corporal Social Responsibility, has incorporated in its activities a series of programs concerning the protection of the environment, the support and reinforcement of local societies as well as solidarity against sensitive social groups. The company supports with consistency, events and activities intended to promote the sporting spirit and culture in general. In 2007, at the occasion of the disastrous fires that heated various areas of our country, Loux has offered 0,10 euro from the value of each soft drink bottle of 1,5 lt to the children of the villages heated by fire in the prefecture of Elis, in the form of infrastructures, undertaking the study and construction of a school room in the municipality of Alifira as well as a basket ball court and outdoor recreation grounds in Figaleia’s Gymnasium. As an active supporter of the tasks performed by various institutions for the protection of children and people with special needs, Loux participates actively, with donations and product offers in various events held by institutions, associations and social bodies.
