Private Individual Lessons Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, the Elmhurst University Community Program offers private lessons to promote your growth as a musician. The Community Music Program has more than 30 instructors, providing private instruction in voice and 17 instruments. Our students vary in age and skill range. Recommended age for beginning private lessons is 8. Students enrolled in private lessons must have their own instrument or have regular access to an instrument for practice. Traditional acoustic piano is preferred for piano students at all levels. Private lessons are taught in four sessions: Fall (12 weeks), Winter (8 weeks), Spring (12 weeks), and Summer (8-10 weeks). The lessons are scheduled weekly, for 30, 45, or 60 minutes (per the instructor’s schedule and space availability). Registration & Payment is due AFTER confirming time with instructor. Lesson Length Cost 30 min/week $30 per lesson 45 min/week $45 per lesson 60 min/week $60 per lesson Lessons Offered: Voice, Percussion, Piano, Organ, Guitar (classical, jazz, electric) Violin, Viola, Cello, String Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet (cornet), French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba Missed Lessons, Cancellations, and Make-Up Lessons It is the responsibility of the instructor and the student to jointly agree on the total number, and nature (in-person, online, hybrid) of lessons that will take place in a term. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the instructor 24 hours prior to a missed lesson. Instructors will not make-up more than 1 lesson per term. Lessons will be made up during the scheduled make-up week at end of term, or per the instructor’s schedule and space availability. Performance Opportunities Students are given an opportunity to perform at a date and time selected by each instructor. Instructors will provide information if a recital is planned. 7.8.21

Students may only receive a refund if officially withdrawn from the Community Music Program by the second week of the term. Withdrawal requests must be made in writing. Partial refunds may be issued at the discretion of the instructor if student suffers injury or illness that prevents completion of the term.
